I basically had the best first day of school ever. My schedule
First period I have biotech, and I don't have any friends in their but my little sister is there instead! Boy am I glad that we get along better than we do with our actual friends.
Second period I have Myth and Legend, and even though I only have one friend in it, it's a friend that I had wanted to become better friends with before leaving for Running Start but missed the chance to do so.
Third period, Calculus, I have with someone in my main group of best friends! She was the only one who didn't go to Running Start, and she openly admitted that she was glad that two of us were returning from it since she was really lonely last year. She's quiet and shy, more so than even myself, so having 3 friend MIA was a big deal to her... D:
Fourth period I had Psychology. No friends, and also the awkward fact that it's the same teacher I got for Myth and Legend. He's lucky it's a cool subject...
And then I have lunch. I have it with the other best friend who also returned from Running Start, which is fucking awesome, but the lonely friend got the other lunch! D: D: D:
Fifth period I have US history, which is pretty much the only part of my schedule that I fucking hate. In Running Start I only had time to earn half of the required US history credit, so now I'm stuck in a class I don't care about full of Juniors that I don't know. The teacher seems nice, though.
Sixth period I have French 3 with the lunch friend and my favorite teacher in the entire school. I don't know who else is in the class though... Originally I had signed up for an online class, but when I did I didn't know that I wouldn't be allowed to stay at the school for that period, and I don't have any way to get home! So I spent all of 6th period sorting that out.
The main reason that today was great, though, is that the stupid fucking games they make you play in order to get to know everyone went really well this year.
On the one where you have to get people to sign if some random BS applies to them, it turned out I was the only vegetarian in the class, so instead of the usual 3, practically the entire class signed my paper. I always enjoy being ignored by everyone, but in a situation where attention is required, people coming to me was really nice.
The math ones were odd, but ended up being stupidly easy. The first one was where you had to shake someone's hand, and in doing so you would trade names with them. You have to keep doing that until you get your name back. I got my name back almost immediately both times we played it.
After we were done with that one we played the chaos game. Basically, you silently have to pick 2 people without ever letting them know who you are. Then, you have to try to remain equidistant from both people at all times. So they move for their choices, then you move according to their moves, the people who chose you have to move according to that, and so on.
...Me, the lonely girl, and a girl we're both kinda friends with all chose each other. We just stood there in a triangle, silently giving each other looks as if to say, "Did we REALLY just fucking do that????"
The biggest downside to today is that I will never again have a public school summer vacation, and I will never again have a first day of public school.
Sorry for the wall of text!
