February was an insane month with so much good music coming out. It was extremely difficult to whittle this list down to ten so I included some great honorable mentions at the bottom as well.

Adeline Hotel - Good Timing (Ruination)

- Adeline Hotel returns quickly on the heels of their amazing Solid Love LP. This time Dan Knishkowy goes solo for an instrumental guitar album that shows off his impressive range.

U Hall again last night, and whoooeee!! One of the best nights in a while.

Openers: Silence in Metropolis DJs (Funkdamentalist & Jackson Ryland

I showed up at like 10 again, before the music got loud, and for once stayed until the main act! It was great. So I experienced the transformation from an empty club to a very full one. The tunes were really good this time. It was a sort of modern deep house vibe but it kept banging pretty hard. I'm not gonna front here, Funkdamentalist was a really great DJ but he does something that many if not most DJs do that I don't like; every five minutes the beat cuts out. At the very least he doesn't make you wait too long for a drop, no more than thirty seconds like ever, if even that. This is totally normal for DJs to do. With that said, I don't like that. I like the rhythm to be continuous and unbroken. I feel the need to be honest about this while also acknowledging that he was a great selector. I got to say hi to him and Ryland, I thanked them and they were very nice to me. I've never done that before. It meant a lot to me for some reason. Miguel was good too, there were a lot of people who were really psyched for him so the energy was high and the tunes were good. I didn't stay too long into his set, but thats what you get when you show up at 10. I always get tired early and bounce once the dance fatigue sets in, but I'm ok with that. I'm like the modern club geezer or something, except I'm a twenty something.

I also interacted with a lot of other people/clubbers. For one the bartender did her job really well, she talked to me and got me very drunk. Muchos gracias.

A polite older gay clubber was hitting on me a bit, he was nice to talk to but I worried about leading someone on. He got punched in the stomach by some weirdo, I think I saw someone point him out to the bouncers so hopefully his shit got sorted. An older lady also was talking to me near the sidelines, she seemed very excited about Miguel. She turned to me and says, They should have gotten Sam Burns to play tonight. I says to her, That guy is awesome and I saw him play a couple weeks ago. Apparently he does a weekly thing at the 18th Street Lounge. I may have to check that out. I remember his set was really bangin'. Other characters include some guy who starts clapping continuously every fifteen minutes and it's really annoying, he must be wasted because he's also periodically yelling "LETS DO THIS SHIT! LETS DO THIS SHIT MIGUEL!!" which was pretty great. Less of a sausage-fest than usual, lot's of good looking girls on the floor, and boys too. Oh, and grown ass men with light-up shoes! Not bad, not bad.

Jackson Ryland - Rep I've been on a bit of a techno bender recently.  Partly because I'm off to the BROMANCE extravaganza this Friday at the Coronet, partly because I've become a bit disenchanted with all the same sounds coming out of the bass scene.  Everything is either going down the "how broken and undanceable can I make this" route or is slavishly copying the best of the recent past. Or both, by which I mean it's trap. And I fucking hate trap. Techno, on the other hand, seems to be revelling in its minimalist aggression and danceability.  Enough of the verbiage. Found this one thanks to Sccucci Manucci who is releasing another of Mr Ryland's tracks - also definitely worth a listen. This one though, this one seems to be a demo he recorded in October but it defintely tickles my whiskers. Had a quick listen to his back catalogue too and this dude knows his business.
