hi i was looking at the upgrade section and it says to upgrade you need to have another card of the same artist with 5 stars, but does that mean i need to have two 5 stars baekhyuns or can i upgrade a 5 star baekhyun with a 5 star kai?

Yes, you need the same member, so Baekhyun with Kai won't work.
