Yo what do you use to animate and any tips for somebody who wants to learn?

I use a combo of Firealpaca and Krita. I mostly do this because I’m used to drawing on Firealpaca, but you could totally animate using just Krita. Both programs are free. I don’t have any experience using paid products for animation, so I dunno if they’re better, but the free programs work just fine for me.

As for tips, definitely learn some of the basics: lip syncing, stretch and squash, and walk/run cycles. Doing some practice with these techniques will absolutely help you in the future, and you should be able to find plenty of tutorials just by googling them.

Once you figure out the basic concepts, getting a solid animation down will be much easier. Also, for your first animation, don’t try anything too complicated, because if you’re like me you’ll probably lose motivation after a few frames. Do some simple things, like a character lip syncing a bit of audio, or doing a simple action, then build up from there. But also try to animate things you’d like to see, ‘cuz you can lose motivation from it being too boring. Making an animatic can be super great for this, because many scenes don’t have to be super complicated.
