Hey I'm kinda new to your blog so I just wanted to know what your favourites 00Q fics are :)
Hi hello welcome! :D I actually just joined the 00Q fandom in like…. mid-November? So I’m fairly new and haven’t read everything, ofc, but I’ve definitely read a good amount so lets do this.
First, here are my AO3 bookmarks, filtered to 00Q, but I didn’t start bookmarking consistently until like a month ago ^^’ My bookmarks cover most of my favorite smutfics so I’ll list my favorite plot-based and long fics (in no particular order) under the cut with descriptions/commentary

• the sheer lack of professionalismThis is a classic, staple 00Q fic. Q gets kidnapped by idiots and Bond is sent to retrieve him (not that he really needs to).
• Ordinary NumbersBless this fic, good lord, it’s a slow burn that operates by pumping your heart with adoration and love and hope just to smash it and then put the pieces back together. Essentially, Q is just an IT help desk operator at MI6 that Bond favors to help him with his ops. Definitely in my top five favorite fics.
• MercenaryInstead of joining the Double O programme, Bond ran away and became a mercenary in the US to avoid a wrongful court-martial. Some years later, Q is hand-selected and sent into the field (with Alec as his handler) in order to convince Bond to come back to England and finally join MI6. The character development and intercharacter relationships are so well done in this piece. This is my third favorite piece in this fandom.
• I See YouThe college AU you’ve always wanted! Bond is sent undercover as a professor at the university that Q, a computer genius and surveillance-obsessed kid, attends. Some pretty cool OCs in this one.
• Red Queen to OverwatchI would say this is my second favorite piece in this fandom. Bond moves into a new flat and his neighbor is the youngest Holmes brother, a computing genius, who built a pseudo-AI system that runs his household (and is kinda his best friend tbh, lol @ Q). I lovelovelove the way Bond and Q interact in this fic <3
• I’ve measured out my life with coffee spoonsThe coffee shop AU you’ve always wanted. The things is that Q hates computing, even though he’s a computing genius, and I think is the most adorable thing ever.
• In Name Only / Bound by ContractOkay so this might not be your cup of tea but I’m into BDSM culture and lifestyle so this hit everything from my kinks to my heart, because christ, for a BDSM-centric piece, this tore my soul apart and broke and rebuilt my heart over and over again. Literally melted my soul because it’s also so sweet?? Definitely and by far my favorite piece in this fandom. It’s extremely long but I think I read both fics within a week because I loved it so much and had to keep reading. The first part is pretty much just 00Q slowburn and the second part is 00Q with dashes of JAQ and AleQ and also so much angst what what what but also amazing romance oh my god. Just read this fic pls omg
• The Arts of Domesticity Bond’s flatmate is a civilian named Q that builds lovable tiny robots and crazy security systems.

• The Chaos TwinsOkay let me start off by saying that I’m not usually huge on supernatural stuff but this was great. Q is the head of MI13, which works with the supernatural, and his newest recruits are 006 and 007. I absolutely love the bro dynamic between Alec and James and I think that alone is worth it. This one is JAQ, though.
• Where Loyalties LieOkay this one is Alec x Q and maybe I’m biased because it’s one of the few long AleQ fics out there and I will go down with AleQ but it’s really, really good. Basically, Q helps Alec find the mole that got Bond killed and they have some side fun and grow quite attached to each other :’)

So the take away here is that I have accidentally developed an embarrassing obsession with Kryptaria’s works ^_^’ Nah, but for real, these are the most memorable fics I’ve read in this fandom, and definitely the ones that played with my heart in all the right ways. I've been having trouble phrasing this question but I get the feeling from my own viewing of Skyfall and Spectre that Ben plays Q like Q is gay. Like, that he's approaching the role from the point of "it's not expressly stated, but this character is gay." Do you feel the same?
I’m probably the worst person to ask since my acting knowledge is that of two summers at sleep-away performing arts camp when I was ten and eleven but
although I’ve never thought about it like that, I guess I could see it that way. But I think it has more to do with the character as Quartermaster itself and how it’s been changed. With such big shoes to fill, I think Ben probably studied all the old Bond movies and echoed some of the Bond-Q relationship dynamic that was done by Desmond Llewellyn. Combine that with our Q’s image of being a clever computer genius, I think it makes it very much “Q pining after Bond.”
And then of course, there’s the whole thing where you can argue that he can’t be acting gay because there’s no one way of being gay unless there’s actual romance or sex, since being gay isn’t just one personality type etc. Does that make sense? Like unless it’s related to romance or sex, there’s no other characteristics that make a person gay. Stereotyping and all that nonsense, you see what I’m saying?
And especially since this is an action movie and the focus isn’t Q’s love life (as much as I wish it was), I don’t think Ben would’ve taken sexuality into account of his acting. Again, I’m not an actor so I’m not 100% sure but from watching Ben’s interviews and stuff, I think he would deem it unnecessary for this role.
BUT like I said up top, I do think he’s definitely playing up the Bond-Q dynamic and perhaps really is aiming to pine after Bond is some way, romantic or not ;)

i would quote your post it but i don't have enough space - it said something along the lines of frobismith living a comfortable life until frobisher is drafted for war & he writes sixsmith letters that have a section of song he's writing in his head. the sheets are slightly dirty and bloody occasionally but sixsmith cherishes them all the more. you had several dif endings in mind: frobisher dies and the sextet isn't finished, or sixsmith comes home to frobisher playing (which is the one i like)

• Q flinches when the door is yanked open, flooding the interrogation room in bright, clinical light.
• Your laugh is my favorite,” Q sobs, “the way you smile and your eyes light up when you’re amused. That little quirk in the corner of your lips, that hint of a smirk before you go full blown laughter,” he grunts when Bond applies pressure on his shoulder.
• The only light source is the glow of the boy’s three monitor setup and the backlight on his keyboard. The LED light washes over the boy’s pale skin and reflects on the lenses of his glasses.
• Once he’s pocketed the six small screws, he yanks the cords and flips the light switch all at once.
(the only wip I have with “smile” in it is the same as the second quotation for light ^^’ I’m an angst writer, m’sorry lol)
