Four players somehow independently brought TWO sets of French interguild twins to this campaign. I’m very excited to be able to share more of their adventures on tumblr ❤️💙💚🤍🖤
The other players in our Ravnica campaign keep joking that Jacques would make a hot mean lesbian. He has many problems and source of anguish, but unfortunately that is not one of them.
Jacqueline’s officer uniform ref! I researched armor for this (but if I got anything wrong don’t judge me) and good lord this woman wears a lot of layers. The smelting quarter must be very fun to police when you are large and encased in several layers of metal and heavy fabric 🥲
Some design notes below the cut:
- Azorius mana colors are blue and white, so the actual cloth layers are all shades of blue and white/cream. To contrast her with her brother in Izzet more, we’ve made gold the accent color for Izzet and silver the accent color for Azorius
- the DM gave each of us a locket/pendant/sigil etc of our guild symbol which is a magic item that does something. Mine is my badge! So I pinned it to the cloak💙
- the Azorius background gives you a bottle of blue ink in your starting kit, and I interpreted that + the little paper things in Lavinia’s design as “you write your law rune-based spells down as talismans to “prepare” them” which is what the sash of paper tags is. I tore one off to cast a spell from it in session 1!
- the Azorius symbol is a triangle with 1-3 circles inside, so obviously a lot of circles and triangles show up in this. I tried to use circles and swoops for overall shapes and triangles for ornamentation so that she looks very round and friendly instead of sharp and pointy
- there are 3 columns to the Azorius senate, so there’s also some sets of 3, like the sashes around the hips, the layers of the tabard, and the visible buckles on the greaves
- the 3 columns of the physical senate are also called out more explicitly on the tabard as a stylistic design element of their own
- the gem setting in the middle of everything has 10 points - one for each of the 10 guilds of ravnica
Jacqueline's mentor, Justiciar Solaine Adaara (and her bonded griffon, Shrike). She's a hussar & eldritch knight fighter who taught Jacqueline everything she knows. Although she's a hardass, she cares about Jacqueline very much and is so, so proud of how far she's come.

Solaine and Shrike reference picture. I spent so long agonizing over Jacqueline's armor and then I was like FUCK IT and rushed Solaine's very fast. It's pretty heavily reffed off of some existing Azorius card art. Her weapon is a big ol retractable lance so she can use it like a sword and also as a ranged weapon while mounted. She's also got a lot of spells, which she casts using the sword as her focus. They kind of start in the middle of the empty circle in the triangle bit and emanate outward. It looks very cool in my head. Her griffon, Shrike, lost an eye several years ago but the Simic grew a new one for her! It looks more reptilian than her original eagle eye. I also gave Solaine a little scar over her eye to make them match, for funsies.
Jacqueline as a teen, when Solaine got her hands on her. She knew she'd have a lot of work ahead of her to whip this Izzet girl into shape but she was confident she could make something good out of her.
Solaine giving Jacqueline her badge at her promotion ceremony. Solaine's ceremonial outfit is a little different than Jacqueline's because she's a griffon hussar; the feathers in her stupid little hat all came from her griffons. She also has a cool little winged cloak over one shoulder.
In session 1, Jacqueline had a VERY bad time at her impromptu crime scene; Jacques injured, suspect dead, Sera being a huge bitch about all of it. Solaine tried to comfort her in the moment, but she doesn't really. Do PDA. Not professional. A brief arm touch and a "you did your best, it's all right, calm down" is all she could really manage in the moment.

Descriptions of what everything is under the cut
1. The very first drawing of Jacqueline. “Is this a woman” I said, like 2 hours after deciding to commit to Yuli’s bit of “what if Jacques has an estranged twin sister in another guild named Jacqueline” and I said “yeah I can work with that”. Obviously a lot has changed but also nothing has changed. She’s been remarkably consistent in both design and temperament since day 1!
2. I am hoping to make our campaign into visual novels once I have some free time and get my new computer set up so I can draw on my graphics tablet instead of my iPad. These were some doodles of potential sprites! The twins may be estranged, but they have similar habits, such as playing with their hair.
3. Jacques is… kind of insecure. Just a pinch. We love him for it. Meme redraw of the iconic scene from cherry magic.
4. I saw a shirt on tumblr and was inspired. Bespoke tbh. As of the most recent session, Jacqueline officially has a toxic yuri girlfriend and Jacques officially has Something Wrong With Him, Like, Physically. These thoughts are unrelated
5. In Jacques’ session 0, he showed up to his own promotion party with completely unmade hair. He was angling for Jacqueline to mother hen him about it and do it up nice for him and his gambit worked, as he knew it would. Keikaku doori.
6. In Jacqueline’s session 0, she got to ride a griffon. Shrike has never once liked her, but on this one day, this one very important day, she rolled a nat 20 animal handling and Shrike deigned to let her ride.
7. As an addendum to session 1, the twins had an offscreen conversation about Jacques’ new artificer armor. She said it made him look like a little dragon, and then teased him about his height, and he challenged her to an arm wrestling match about it. He won, for the first time ever.
8. In a special twin birthday session 0, Jacques’ clown cultist colleagues gifted him a box of Russian roulette chocolates. He graciously shared them with his sister. She, somehow, unerringly picked the one full of actual blood, which did spray all over her face. It was. Disgusting. Thanks!
9 and 10. Just some lil quick portraits. The twins got their ears pierced as a follow up to the birthday session. Now they match! Kind of. In my compilation file these two groups are named “handsome bastard” and “the pretty one”, as Jacques keeps insisting that Jacqueline is, between them.
My prediction for how our show at the Revue will go tonight. Now featuring one horrible ghost clown in addition to the rest of the party. Will report back later 🫡
