Rememberances

As the sun dawned on the last day of Rockbreaker’s Ceremony, the Stardust Wanderers’s lair was already bursting with activity. Dragons from neighboring territories were coming for the last celebrations, that the Guild had offered to host in their hall; the festivities were planned to be spectacular, and they had been for the whole week. Old friends and families had come to the Guild for the festival; the lair had never been so alive since they took residence here. It was a time of joy, like every festival should be.

But for the whole week, Adara had barely been taking part in any of the events. The leader was only seen when she was needed to greet guests or for important matters; even then, she seemed like she wasn’t really there. She didn’t wear her crown, left her usual armor away, preferring a simple outfit that clashed with the festive apparel everyone was wearing.  And for this last day, she had left the lair while everyone was still fast asleep.

The Wildclaw took flight in the dry air of the desert, to the south, passing over the rifts of the Pillar of the World to reach the Shattered Plains. There, on one of the many shards of stone that stood in the barren expanse, she landed, and contemplated the earth. 

It was the same wilds that had seen her grew up; unchanged, and eternal. “We will be here when all else crumbles”; the motto of her flight resonated in her head. Yes... she had seen so much change; from the dawn of a new life in the Starfall Isles, to the peak of her Guild in the Windswept Plateau. And when everything she had worked for threatened to collapse on itself, she found comfort in the solitude of Dragonhome, allowing everyone to get back on their feet. To her, the Earthshaker’s timeless lands were truly the best refuge one could ask for.

And yet... something was amiss. The one pain that she thought buried deep in her heart came back with an intensity she didn’t expect. How many months had it been already since the last Ceremony ? How many years since Jadeb had disappeared without a word ?

Secretly, she had hoped that he would come back like nothing happened. Tell her about the new murals his clan had painted in the Greatwyrm’s Breach, or how he got lost an incredible secret cavern, with treasures that had been buried for hundreds of years. Come back after the festival, like he was supposed to... but the wish that had carried Adara through all this time didn’t come true. She looked down at her jade pendant, the gift he had made for her during the very first festival they spend together, and that she had almost never taken off since. Maybe it was time to let go for good... 

Looking into the golden sky, she took a deep breath of the morning air, and prepared to take flight again. 

It was enough memories for one day. She had festivities to join.

Somewhere, deep in the Foxfire Bramble, a hooded Wildclaw thought about her.

Two Truths And A Lie: Ame, Jadeb, Olivia (lol), Zao, Charybd, Tristan :3

Ame : - Gets the feathers he uses to draw his maps from Karal’s aviary when he isn’t around. - Got his Gembond from being willingly bitten by a Cobra when he was a child (and regrets it). - Though he admired and respected Jadeb (with a bit of fear), he found his disappearance to be a relief. 

Jadeb : - Pretends that everything is well, but never fully healed from the attack that almost killed him and suffers from some sequels, including sight/hearing impairement and trouble keeping his balance. - Thought himself above everyone except Adara when he was co-leader of the Stardust Wanderers, and has still an incredible ego.- Plans on leaving Talgo, Shami and Selba alone and return to Dragonhome as soon as he can.

Olivia : - Often lets others do the work instead of her because really, writing reports is too much of a hassle and she despises Persephona. - Keeps records on everything that goes on in the clan to be sure to have the latest informations when drama goes down. - She got her silks by asking Haeln to steal them for her from an unknowing merchant they crossed paths with.

Zao : (you actually got me with this one, I almost don’t have anything for him pfff) - Likes to use his intimidating appearance to scare the hatchlings before laughing it off and playing with them. - Will often tell tales of what he’s seen and the travels he’s made before joining the clan, 80% of which are entirely made up. Discussing his latest fantasies even became a trend within the clan, and groups who come back from expeditions ask about what they missed.- Is an escapee from the Fortress of Ends, where he got his current scars; though thats a story he never tells.  

Charybd (actually a placeholder for Cenric, who is gonna be his son - so I am gonna talk about Cenric because Charybd doesn’t exist in-lore ;v;) :- Absolutely despises sailing on the sea, and often argues with Eydis whenever they have to. - Lost his wing/arm while fighting agaisnt Harpies, and has hated them ever since. - Is of a really calm nature and is often used as an intermediary whenever there’s trouble on the ship.

Tristan : - Looks like an innocent child if you judge from the appearances, but has no mercy if you fall into his hands. - Asked Ame to re-make all of his maps to his specifications, and protects them like his most precious possession. - Tends to think out loud and often hums things in Coatl to his Golem
