My dog died about a week after my birthday this year. We had about 3 days from getting a date to have the vet come put her down til that actual date. She was allowed whatever she wanted to eat during those days. The last thing she did after having the anesthetic before the injection was scarf down a minuscule piece of deli chicken. Dogs are amazing, and if they're gonna be put down anyway, why not give them what they want? MAy as well make them happy
I'm sorry to hear that. :c And yes, thank you! The vet told us to make her happy and comfortable. It was hard enough saying goodbye to a friend I've had for 16 years. But she was suffering and only going to get worse. So I wanted to make her as happy as she made me all of that time. And if that meant splitting a goddamn grilled cheese with my blind, deaf, arthritic dog, that's what I was going to do. >:T

Hal sunk back further into his chair and buried his face in his hands. "You really think that's going to help?"
"I thought it might," Kilowog passed him a large mug of something frothy and slimy. "I never know with this subject."
"Neither do I," Hal looked out of the window and tried not to think about where the man he was thinking of might be. He tried, and failed.
Sinestro had been gone for years. It had been at least three since he'd betrayed them and gone rogue. Hal should have been used to it by then; he'd fought against the Korugarian, fought with him too, and they'd made some sort of peace. When he saw Sinestro in his yellow and black uniform it didn't hurt. He didn't feel stabs of betrayal like he'd thought he would.
But then again...
"C'mon, Hal, stop thinking about it," Kilowog said with a firm tone. "It's not helping."
"I know, I just... I miss that niggling pain, y'know?"
Kilowog looked at him like he'd grown a second head.
"It's like- like we're almost friends. It's better than it was when he first left," he swallowed a lump in his throat and bit at his nail. Sinestro had actually balked at the anger in Hal's voice when they'd met that first time after the betrayal. Hal had wanted to break his bones. "I know it gets worse before it gets better, but... what if it just gets better? What do you do then?"
"You go see medical. Are you ill or something?"
Hal frowned at his friend and looked back out of the window. He wondered if Sinestro still missed waking up next to him sometimes. He wondered if Sinestro even noticed he was gone.
He hoped so.
