Hi Kelly,
In your opinion, what order should I read the Tolkien books (Middle-earth universe)? I’m going to read them all this summer 🤓 (tell Teddy I said hi)
hi omg this is just my opinion but i would read the lotr trilogy first, then the hobbit, then the silmarillion. i can't even justify why this is the best order to read them (for me). if you are a v quick reader, then the other acceptable order for me is the hobbit, lotr trilogy, then silmarillion. ok clearly it's bc the lotr trilogy has my whole heart.
i will always have a special place in my heart for the hobbit (bc ofc!!! wood-elves!! mirkwood!! a glimpse into the line of oropher!! beorn and his honey cakes and gandalf starting the whole adventure!! good morning!!) but i live for the themes in the trilogy; for the wounds that cannot be healed regardless of the love that is present and given, for the courage of kings and hobbits alike in the face of unconceivable horrors, for the inescapable fates of the tragic heroes and the healing and strength that is found in friendship and in love and in loyalty and in sacrifice!!
[insert ben wyatt cones meme. it's about the bonds of friendship and brotherhood]
