in context to the ask about writing mc who blushes— by the way, i'm nowhere disregarding their opinion— everyone blushes. blushing is a psychological response, which is basically increased capillary blood flow due to whatever reason, say embarrassment, shyness, etc. the thing is, it's more evident on people with lighter skin as compared to people with darker skin, who tend to conceal it quite well because of their complexion. moreover, a person with dark complexion can guess if they're blushing or not ( you know, with effects like face heating up and all ) but of course, others may not notice it because of their skin colour. this doesn't apply to people with lighter skin tone since it's very obvious if they're blushing or not.

i haven't read your fic so i don't know how you've phrased it, but as long as you haven't mentioned that someone else has noticed the reader blushing, your words are pretty inclusive. still, to be on the safer side, you can switch to using 'face heating up' or other equivalents if it helps. hope this wasn't offensive to you or that anon, or anyone else. i'm so looking forward to reading that fic once i'm done with exams :‹

ahh don’t worry it wasn’t offensive to me at all!! and i agree with what you’ve said; unfortunately i’ve specifically mentioned the reader’s cheeks turning red at some places in a few of my fics so i will have to go through everything and change the parts which are phrased that way 🥲 tysm for the suggestion!! i’ll switch up all the parts mentioning a colored blush with face heating up or any other alternatives that express embarrasment/nervousness! :))

I don't understand why anon is so upset about that. Blushing is the most common way to show you're nervous or flustered. I honestly don't think you should change anything.

You will find someone blushing in almost every single fic so I dont see why it's a problem. Of course, it's your choice on what to do but that's how I see it.

I'm not trying to attack the anon so I hope this doesn't cause any problems. But it's just my opinion.

nono i understand where they’re coming from and i admit it’s my fault for not considering all skin tones especially since i’m a part of the poc community. i can blush and maybe that’s why it never crossed my mind to stop and consider those who cannot. that was rlly ignorant of me. also i don’t think the anon is only talking about the way i’ve shown nervousness in my fics 😓 i think they were pointing out that my fics are x reader and therefore they should be inclusive of everyone—in this case, those who cannot blush.

why do you make your reader inserts blush/imply that they're blushing? not everyone has a light skin tone. for example, here's a snippet from your jeno fic, 'the roommate contract': "Colour bloomed on your cheeks..."

why do you write reader inserts if you can't be inclusive to all races? at least state a warning beforehand saying that the mc can blush. additionally, blushing isn't the only way to show that someone is nervous/embarrassed. really disappointed tbh, especially since you're one of the bigger writers here on tumblr.

idk what u meant when u said u rushed the jeno fanfic in the second author’s note because it was PERFECTION 😩💚 i’ve read almost all of ur works and u should have more faith in urself. u are a talented writer 🤷‍♀️
