I read 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 in Dutch or German, but I used the English translations of the titles for this, because that seemed to make more sense in an English list. And yeah, okay, I cheated a bit and a lot of these are actually series of books instead of single novels, but it's already a small miracle I managed to make a list of just ten books. No regrets.

Okay, so, if you've been following me for longer than a few weeks, you may have noticed that I've only really started posting my own things on this blog a while ago. For a very long time, the only way I tumbled was by reblogging stuff from my dash, so I kind of, well, ignored people tagging me? Not because I didn't like it, but because I'm a shy person and I mostly just kind of wanted to stay under the radar and reblog instead of post. That's changed now, so I just sat down and collected all of the things I got tagged in/chain mail messages that were sent to my ask since... well, since I started Tumblr, I suppose. Sorry it took me this long to respond and thank you all for including me! ^^
1. If you had to give up one luxury in your life, what would it be?
Uh, my mobile phone? I always carry it with me just in case, but I hardly ever use it anyway.
2. Do you like to read? If so, what?
YES. And, well, everything? Mostly fanfic, nowadays, but I devoured every book in the children's section of our town's library when I was younger, and I'm not very picky about books. If there's a story in it, it's probably something I wouldn't mind reading. If there it's non-fiction, there's still a high chance I'd read it. So many books, so little time.
3. Favorite sweet snack?
Chocolate cake owns my heart.
4. Favorite savory snack?
Depends. Uh, popcorn is almost always welcome.
5. What movie can you watch over and over again?
Ten things I hate about you. I don't even really know what it is that makes this one stand out from all the other teen romcom-type movies I've seen, but I really, really love that movie. There's others I could watch all day long, though - The opposite of sex, The Voyage Home, Breakfast with Scot, Mama's Boy.
6. What type of person are you attracted to?
I like smart people? Also people who are nice to others. And tall people, I guess. Yes, I know that's very vague. I just... really don't have a good answer to this? Idk, attraction and sexuality and romance are all pretty confusing things to me personally, and I can't give a straight answer on any of those subjects pun not intended but possibly very fitting anyway let alone that I know what type of person I'm attracted to.
7. If you could only watch TV shows or movies, which one would you pick?
Oh God, that's a really difficult question. TV shows have much longer stories which is interesting if you're invested in the characters, but there are far, far more movies about so many different subjects. I think I'd go for watching movies.
8. What is/was your favorite subject in school?
The easy answer is history, because I love stories and I love getting to know something about other people's lifes, even if those other people are long gone. The more complicated, but also more accurate answer is C&W, which stands voor Cultuur & Wetenschappen (Culture & Sciences) and is a class my high school offers to Atheneum+ students. The thought behind it was to delve into a different topic every semester for two and a half years, and we had classes about a very wide range of topics, like the Age of Discovery, the solar system, religious symbols in art, human vs machine and even sexuality. That last one was the thing that really made me love that class. We talked about all the stuff that's missing from regular sex ed, like asexuality, homo- and bisexuality, trans* people, acceptation of all of these things and the fact that sexuality is a spectrum and that there's a difference between romantic and sexual attraction. The teacher who thaught us that semester told us she'd had to put her foot down to be allowed to even give us that class, but that she thought it was a very important subject that got too little attention, and she encouraged us to talk about it with out parents and find out how they thought about all of these things. My C&W class was the very first ever, because it's a thing my school is developing, and I'm willing to bet that I and the other eight kids with me in that class were some of the first students in The Netherlands, if not in the world, to get official classes about these aspects of sexuality and love at school. I really, honestly respected my school and that teacher in particular a lot more after those classes.
9. Favorite Fandom you belong in?
Harry Potter, I think. I really like how everyone has their own fandoms, but there's this one that brings nearly everyone together.
10. Mark Sheppard. Your bby or who (and I don’t mean the doctor)?
I know who he is and I know that he plays really great parts in like half the shows I watch (which is impressive) but I wouldn't call him my baby, tbh.
11. Are you in love with someone right now?
No, I don't think so.

1. The last person you received a text from?
The Dutch government. :') There's this thing they call a DigiD and you need it to use a bunch of important websites for stuff like applying for a college, and if you want to log in anywhere at all they text you a code you have to copy. The last Whatsapp I received was from a good friend I've known since I was four.
2. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who would it be?
If I really had to choose, uh, maybe Arthur Conan Doyle? I'd like to see the poor guy's reaction to how famous Sherlock Holmes has become.
3. If you could, would you take back the last lie you told?
I'm trying to remember what the last lie I told is, and I genuinly can't think of anything. But I'm sure I must have told at least some little lie in the past couple of days, and no, I don't think I'd take it back. If I've already forgotten it can't have been anything that bad.
4. When you die, would you like to be buried or cremated?
I don't really care, to be honest. I don't think my body will have any value for me anymore once I'm dead, so they can do with it pretty much whatever the hell they like. I think I'd choose a burial over cremation. My family would probably prefer that and it's important that they get to say their goodbyes in as satisfactory a way as possible.
5. When was the last time you laugh? Like full on, hysterical laughter?
Pffft, my memory feels like a sieve. Nothing comes to mind immediately for this either. Hm, let's see, it was probably this afternoon? That friend I mentioned earlier was here and she wanted to show me her glow in the dark nail polish, but it was too light everywhere, so we kind of tried to fit into the tiny closet in the attic, because it's the only room in the house without windows. It was weird.
6. If you could do one thing for your best friend, what would you do?
That depends on the friend? For the one I've been talking about here anyway... I'd talk some sense into her parents, if they'd listen.
7. If you could help anyone in the world, just for one day, who would it be and why?
Someone I could make a difference for. Someone really in need of some support, but who hasn't got anyone.
8. What is your relationship with your parents like?
Really good. I realise this sounds very creepily-happy-family-from-some-American-movie, but my parents are great, really lovely people who are always there for me and are always willing to talk if we disagree about something serious, which happens almost never. The older I get, the more I realise that I'm super, super lucky.
9. Your karaoke song?
Happy birthday to you! No, I don't do karaoke, so none.
10. Do you like pet names? Baby, sweetie etc.
Not really. But no one I know has ever called me pet names, so I'm not really used to it anyway.
11. The last book you read or last movie? What was it about?
The last book I finished was Divergent, a sci-fi YA book which I really liked, and the last movie was Jurrassic Park, which I'd never seen before, but was more fun than I expected it to be.

2. How does your online personality correspond to your real life personality?
Wow, that's interesting. Uh, well, the most important thing I can think of is that if I'm in a new place or with people I don't really know, I'm usually pretty quiet and keep to myself a bit until I feel comfortable. It's the same way when I start spending time on a new website. I registered for Flight Rising nearly two months ago, for example, but I've only really started talking to people and posting on the forum a few days ago.
3. Do you try to explain your fandoms/fan-stuff to outsiders - friends, family - and if so, how does it usually go? Or do you prefer not sharing it with them?
I usually prefer keeping it relatively quiet, though it can be fun to explain things like fanfic or shipping to people who really don't have a clue. Mostly I explain things to my parents, because my sister and I have entire conversations at the dinner table that they don't understand a word of, and sometimes they're curious, which is cool. I also remember I once had to explain to one of my parents' friends what exactly fanfic was and why people would write that, because I made the mistake of being honest about what kind of stories I write, which is always the first question when I admit writing is a hobby of mine. That was a very strange experience.
4. Favourite era? Why?
Era? As in, era in history? I think I'd end up having to say the one we're in now. There's so many cool times and places in history to choose from, but in the end, I think people are probably the happiest, healthiest and most free now from any moment in the history of humanity. Which doesn't mean there aren't many horrible things going on in the world right now, but I still think it's so, so important that people get an education and that they can speak their minds and love freely and in a safe world, and right now we're closer to that in most countries than we've ever been. I'm super excited about that.
5. If you could get hold of the Doc’s DeLorean (a time machine :P) for a day, where would you go and what would you do?
I think I would go back in time a few years and watch myself. I've always wanted to be able to see how other people see me.
6. Favourite mythical creature? Why?
Pfooh. Uh, I've always found the Sphinx very fascinating. The Thestrals from Harry Potter also intrigue me.
7. What kind of languages do you speak?
What kind? European? I've lived in the Netherlands all my life, but my mother is German, so my parents raised me and my little sister to be bilingual. Almost everything on TV in the Netherlands is English with Dutch subtitles, so I picked up on that pretty quickly too, and my English has improved a loooot since I got into fandoms and started reading English fanfic daily. Those are the three languages I'm fluent in, but I've had English (six years), German (three), Spanish (three) and French (six) as school subjects, so I know something about those last two as well. My last Spanish lesson was almost three years ago so I've forgotten most of that to be honest, but I'm still trying to improve my French. I don't have many life goals, but I'd love to learn sign language, and maybe a language that's completely different from the ones I know, like Russian or Chinese. My current knowledge of languages is very eurocentric.
8. Tell me your favourite and most disliked film/fiction tropes!
I love tropes, but one I was thinking about today is the whole pretend couple falls in real love thing. I love fluffy stuff with happy ends, even if it's predictable, and that trope always makes for an interesting story with lots of confusion and awkwardness and teasing. The disposable woman trope is probably one of the ones I like the least. It's when a female character is introduced just to be killed off and provide more manpain or a reason for revenge or whatever for the (damn near always) white male protagonist. It's slightly misogynistic, it's overused and it's boring.
9. Any fetishes/kinks you’ve developed an interested in while reading (fan)fiction?
Ha! I think I'd prefer not to get into detail here.
10. Do you think film adaptations destroy the original book experiences?
No, I don't. I do think that if they decide to do a film adaptation, they should try to stick with the original story as much as possible. The movie versions of books like Inkheart and Percy Jackson weren't bad movies per se, but they strayed so far from the story lines in the books that they ended up being totally different stories. That's fine, but then just rewrite those last little details as well and market it as a new movie instead of trying to profit from the book's successes.

I try to be very positive, but I'm pretty sure even I couldn't come up with twenty-five nice things about myself, so I'm going to do all of these at once. I'm very flattered I'm one of your ten favourite followers. ^^
Five nice things about myself:
I try my best to be nice to people. I know how much it often means to me if someone does something for me, even really small things, and I really want to make other people feel that way.
I like writing and I'm usually pretty good at it.
I'm smart, at least in the way that I don't have any difficulty understanding or remembering things. I've always had very good grades at school without having to put in much effort (which is probably going to come back to bite me in the future, hah).
I try to keep an open mind and I don't judge people easily.
I like who I am. I'm far from perfect and there are things about myself I don't love, but I've realised that in general, I like who I am, and that's a great feeling.
