Now that we all agree heavyweight is bad and that the light heavyweight division should be absorbed into it, I want to know which WWs you think could go on a food bender and get a ranking at heavyweight.
Jake Collier was a mediocre MW and has managed to go 2-4 at HW but has an (bad) argument for being 4-2. There has to be a welterweight who could mirror that success.
A fight straight out of the Denny’s parking lot
Chris Barnett survives 1st and stops Jake Collier in the 2nd!
Barnett continues to build a career at heavyweight off of guys who moved their way up from middleweight. Can’t hate. He’s exciting when he gets the right match ups. Him just forgoing technique in that 2nd round to fire off machine gun 1-2s like this was Wand-Vitor was absolutely amazing. Did a great job of stopping that takedown attempt, spinning to get Collier’s back and just beating on him from there for like a full minute. Nothing more heavyweight that one dude getting so tired from whooping on the other guy, he loses in the next round.
The last time we saw Jake Collier, he was a 205er. He started his UFC career as a 185er.
He now weighs 264lbs.

Mohammed Usman takes decision over Jake Collier
And all in all good performance by Usman against a more experienced opponent in Collier. Struggled early on with Collier’s accuracy and his own defensive short comings but when he managed to step out to the very edge of range and made Jake overextend, he did a good job countering. Really liked the jab off the back foot. Mixed up targets - head, chest, and gut. When Jake would come forward behind the high guard he was ripping him to the body with those powerful right hands. Then he took Collier down in the third with a big powerful TD. Good performance from Usman overall.
