b, g, h, t
hii thanks for the ask!
b. are any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
mostly only small moments or details, but a lot of ace!eddie, especially the early parts that are him trying to fit in with friends having their sexual awakenings and a lot of the insecurity, is... pretty directly from my life tbh. especially this part:
[H]e can’t remember the last time he felt this free and this weighed down all at once. Free, because he’s lost count of how many years he’s spent thinking there is something broken inside of him, and now it turns out… there isn’t? It’s almost too much to process.
Weighed down, because it doesn’t change the fact that Ana didn’t want him, and he can’t imagine that anyone else will, either. He’s always been afraid that his disinterest in sex makes him unlovable, and he doesn’t really think having a label for it is going to help all that much.
also, this bellarke fic is almost an exact retelling of a fateful road trip i took in my last year of uni, except the real incident took place in the middle of nowhere in the scottish highlands and included even more issues with AAA and considerably less friends-to-lovers.
g. do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
always start to finish! i get really paranoid that i'll accidentally make the timelines or development or something fuck up otherwise lmao
h. how would you describe your style?
i try to go for like a blend of funny and evocative? unclear how well that always works out though!
t. any fandom tropes you can't stand?
like in terms of writing?
i'm really not a fan of epithets, especially if they're used constantly (e.g. ascribing dialogue/actions to 'the taller man', 'the blonde', 'the brown-eyed man', 'the younger man', etc instead of just using names or pronouns or even relationship descriptors like 'her brother' or 'his boyfriend')
i'll read almost anything for a ship i'm into if it's well-written, but one thing that turns me off really quickly is poor characterisation (especially but not limited to the things that are big issues in some parts of this fandom, like making eddie violent or otherwise racist depictions, characterising maddie as abusive towards buck, or generally babying buck at the expense of literally anyone else)
i also just don't understand why you would write buddie but change someone's gender so it's m/f??? so i don't read those either
send me fanfic asks!
