Abby pumping the brakes with Jake at this point is so interesting to me. I mean, I get it--they haven’t been dating that long, but he’s all in. Which is flattering, but now that she’s had a couple of months to settle into it, is probably giving her pause. 

Especially because this episode is the first one in a long while where she seems to interact with Luka. It’s still within the context of a case, but he’s encouraging and they have a moment, Jake’s presence notwithstanding. 

I think combined with her already existing fears about hurrying into the relationship with Jake, being around Luka enough to feel that chemistry and the relief she gets from a single compliment...well, the episode title kind of says it. It’s the beginning of Abby’s refusal of Jake’s care, even if she does keep trying a little bit more.
