Well, at least like this, she wouldn’t have to worry about him asking her what was in everything she tried on him. There were a few experiments she had to put off when he seemed uneasy about it. Now she doubted he would question anything. Angela wondered what would happen if she asked him to kill someone for her?

Not important at the moment. For now, she just needed to monitor his behavior and make sure it didn’t swing towards one of the potion’s targets: infatuation, lust, or attachment. Too much of any could make the whole thing go up in smoke; driving Jacob insane because of her need to try a few things is a loss she didn’t want.

“But I do mean it, darling. Are you alright? No nausea or headaches? What is your mood at the moment, do you think?”

She didn't need to be told twice. Angela immediately yanked the covers back up and snuggled against him, throwing an arm around him to cling like a limpet. This was one of the better parts about winter. The clothes were cute, the scenery outside of the city was lovely, and the cuddling was divine.

"Twist my arm," she mumbled. It was cold outside of the blankets anyway. What was she thinking, wanting to get out of bed like an idiot. It was foolish.

Angela blinked and then looked up from her book at the sound of his voice. “Pardon? I fear I may have missed what you said.”

Angela smiled softly, curled close and gently running her fingers down his arm. Watching the light of the morning slowly creep further into the room and over the bed. She leaned closer and gently kissed his cheek. She didn’t want to wake him yet, but she couldn’t help the small bit of affection.

Angela was not one to dance out of giddy excitement, but she could come close to it. Having Jake swoop in as she was walking through the archway to kiss her before she could pass the mistletoe some sadist put up before the Christmas party came pretty close to breaking her don’t-dance-because-you’re-excited-Angela streak. Grinning, she rested one hand on his cheek and resisted the urge to dot his face with lipstick prints. His eyesore of a sweater was embarrassment enough. Angela wanted to high-five his girls for doing a beautiful job with the ugly Christmas sweater kits she gave them. One for each of them, Jake, and her. They even wrapped it for him, which she thought was a nice touch…

“Too bad there isn’t any at home.” Either of their homes. Maybe she could do something about that.

Angela shrugged, “I could have, yes, but I would rather work alongside you than the PR team that is always on my back with this or that outfit or statement.” Jacob wouldn’t make her dress ridiculously for a simple event like they would. She just wanted a normal, small event that didn’t come with theatrics and planning for press and the like.

Angela stopped in the doorway, laundry basket tucked under her arm with the freshly folded towels stack in it. She let her eyes run over Jake appreciatively and leaned against the doorframe. Damn, she was glad that she was allowed to see this. Lucky indeed. When she saw him standing up again, Angela smirked and said, “No, no. Feel free to stay where you are, love.”

“I drank that reddish stuff, why? Was it—you know, you’re so sweet, worrying about me. I love you, too!”

Interesting, Angela thought. The experiment worked! She couldn't believe it worked.

The woman tapped her chin, a slow smile crossing her face as she crossed the room to stroke his cheek. "Thank you. You're too kind, darling."

She couldn't believe it was so easy.
