"Fucked up family. Guess that tracks." Jake said, squinting a little as he looked Eric over. "But, what's this 'now' business? You and me, we've been stuck with each other since you stole my bike in '95." He grinned, raising his brows. "What fucked up family are you talking about exactly? There's that many people around now, that, if you told me you had another family that you were about to introduce me to, I don't think I'd even blink." @fcrafcrtnight

"I don't want to fight anybody." Jake sighed, "It's not like I enjoy it." He'd never found fun in fighting, or any of the trouble he'd found himself caught up in. Especially back home, it was usually sadness and anger that pushed him into unsafe situations. It just so happened that he was competent at handling himself. "But, it just feels like everything's important now. This town's so big. If I help one person, there's hundreds more I'm neglecting. I just never know if I'm doing the right thing, that's all."

"what price did i pay for this? i can’t remember, but i know it cost me something." (Jake & Eric)

Jake clenched his teeth, confusion and concern swarming his mind in unison. He looked Eric over, trying to figure out what exactly he was referring to. "You don't remember?" he asked quietly, stepping closer. "That's not good, Eric." his mind was racing now, wondering what exactly he was talking about and what had happened since they'd last met up. "You're not hurt, are you? You should have come found me. I could have helped you." He placed a hand on Eric's shoulder, trying to reassure him that his irritation was only coming from a place of love. "Whatever's going on, we'll deal with it. Just, don't let it mess with your head, alright?"

“I never thought I’d see you in something so fancy.” (Jake & Eric)

Jake blinked in surprise, not quite believing what he was seeing or hearing. He hadn't seen Eric properly for a while, and he'd missed out on important moments in his brother's life. To see him now almost felt inopportune. "Yeah? Well, I didn't think I'd see you at all, let alone dressed up as a...?" He trailed off, teasing playfully. He wanted to reach out and hug him, but, it didn't seem appropriate, and so he played it off. "Guess neither of us are where we're supposed to be, huh?" His tone was casual, but there was a lot going on behind the scenes, but mostly confusion. "How'd you get here, anyway? Did...Did something happen back home?" @fcrafcrtnight
