after his encounter with louis, lestat had torn off his mask and wandered away from the main room hosting the ball. he wasn't entirely sure what had happened. all he knew was someone or something had attacked him. he felt weak. he needed blood. he was still on the ground, trying to talk himself into moving not just waiting for the sun to take care of him when a man came by. "what does it look like?" he asked glaring at the human. "blood... i need blood" he didn't bother answering the second question, he didn't have a good explanation. he quickly stood up, ripping the collar of the man's costume, and bit him. he could slowly feel his strength returning to him.

daryl had no idea how he'd gotten here, how the world was somewhat back to normal or the most normal he'd experienced in a while. no matter what was going on around town right now, it beat what he'd faced back home. that wasn't to say he wouldn't give anything to be back there, be back with his people. it's the only reason he was attending this ball in the first place, he figured what better place to search than where most of the town was going to end up. masks didn't matter ; when he found them, he'd know. it hadn't taken long for him to scope out the area, there didn't appear to be any sign of them which… was just his luck but it didn't mean he was giving up. no, he never had. he was sat on a wall just outside the building the ball was being held at. he figured this still counted as attending, he was still in the grounds themselves. "you got me. just gettin' some air, i guess. i'll head back in a minute. don't need some escort." @walstarterblog

"did you say chill? chill? uh, no? but if you do then that's… a little weird but cool. totally cool." it wouldn't have been that much of a surprise if he wasn't paying full attention to everything that was going on. after all, there was a tonne of cool shit to see and look at. "i'm actually sweating like hell under this outfit so a chill would be nice about now." flashing a friendly smile from under his mask. hey, he was here because he kind of had to be but why not try to make it a good time? "is that all?" not hiding her grin, she saw no reason too. sure, she was probably not in the best condition to attend an event like this but she wasn't thinking about that. she was thinking that this was the first date that she and parker had been on in… a shameful amount of time. that was what had her smiling. oh, and of course, how happy her parents seemed to be. "i suppose, we can make that happen?" grinning. wrapping her arms around his shoulders, bringing her forehead to press against his. trust didn't magically reappear after what they had put each other through. however, the fact that they were willing and able to be this physically close to each other again. well, it felt like them and considering how much they said through touch alone. it felt like she finally had him back, like he really was home. @fcdcdmcmories

cecilia had just about managed to get the bleeding under some form of control. that wasn't to say that her father's situation was ideal, it was far from it. how long had he been like that before she had found him? it was a lot of blood but… DEEP BREATHE. she had cleaned herself up the best that she could before heading back into where the main ball still seemed to be taking place. now she knew her father was heading home, and in safe hands… no, TRUSTED hands. she had intended to find will and parker… which of course, hadn't happened. after her conversation with john, all composure she had left was shaken into a broken mess on the ground. it couldn't be true but at the same time… she already knew it was. once she locked eyes with cooper, she signaled for him to follow her. glad he was on the other side of the room, it gave her a few seconds to once again… breath. breath, and get it together. she had to get it together. it was easier to do that without the loudness of the party. "no, i," hearing the shake in her own voice, if she could have glared at it, she would have. taking in another slow deep breath. "it's not my blood." finally, feeling ready to be able to turn and face him. "i need you to return to the house immediately. my father's in an unstable condition, and i fear he won't be able to protect himself if --" they came. "i, i have an... errand to run and i'll be right with you. promise." @fcrafcrtnight

"look at you. wow! someone's back to being their delightful bitchy self? what happened? ran over a puppy on your way here?" tonight was not the night she wanted to start. especially, when he had every intention of being civil when he saw her. not that he did plan to see her, avoid like the plague was the phrase that came to mind. "also uh, little fyi for you. i didn't chose the mask, it chose me. naw. no, it came in that mysterious package. figured, what the hell?" he shrugged. well, now he was regretting it because thinking was this night going to get any worse? clearly, wasn't doing him in any favors because it just did. charlie swan had no interest in attending some fancy ball but he also knew that someone should go and keep an eye on things. make sure there wasn't too much fooling around. after all, even he could admit that he didn't like what had been going on leading up to it. he'd gone as casual as one could get away with at one of these events but hey, he'd made an effort to wear a shit and bonus ; he wasn't in his police uniform… which he had been half attempted to wear. people should know who they could come to if they needed help. right? adjusting the mask that was protecting his identity, clearly uncomfortable with it but it was wear one or be turned away at the door. right? "no, no. none for me tonight thanks. gotta' keep alert." about to wave off a beer that had been handed to him. "eh, actually, suppose one can't hurt. right? um, thanks. first beer i've seen." the rest had been glasses of champagne or whatever else, clearly not charlie's style. @walstarterblog

lestat scoffed at his daughter's words. perhaps in the past he would have worn something more glamorous, more cheerful but now? now he couldn't bring himself to wear anything but black. he felt as if he was in mourning. mourning a husband who so easily replaced him with a human. no a black mask that almost served as a veil felt fitting. "i don't see a reason to dress cheerfully. i'm not very fond of masquerades anymore. i can't imagine why." a voice in the back of his head kept telling him this was a trap, to get out. surely claudia wasn't dumb enough to try the same trick on him again? "is this another ruse? you chatting me up while louis gets his knife ready? is he going to slit my throat again? hmm? is the lack of memories all an act on his part? is it supposed to distract me? do me a favor. this time burn my body. i don't fancy waking up in a dump again. waking up without him."
