F. What stories are you planning for the future?

Well, I’m currently working on a wrap-up story for Datz a Family.  It takes place when Armie’s just turning 18 and is about to go through a ceremony that all young adults in Khura’in go through.

I’m also in the process of writing Dhurke and Datz’s first case together.  (See outline below)

I’m also looking at a few small snippets, maybe like a story of small moments that don’t quite fit as their own stories.  Examples include: Rayfa and Armie trying to bake a cake for some sort of festival and needing to get Beh’leeb’s help.

I’d also like to write one where Ahlbi wants to take Armie on a date (they’re older), but Ahlbi’s parents (or the monks?  Does Ahlbi have parents?) don’t want him dating the daughter of a former rebel, *gasp*.  Datz, who’s previously hasn’t wanted to have Ahlbi do anything with Armie, is a little petulant and decides to help them out.

O. Do you believe in outlines? Show us one!

Sure, I’ll put it under read more and remove spoilers.

Questions to answer:

·        How does Dhurke hear about the case?

·        Why does he decide to take it?

·        What’s Erin’s new Khura’inese last name?

Day 1, Investigation:

·        Erin arrested

·        Someone comes to Dhurke to bring him the case (who?  A nurse who works with Erin and knows herbetter?)

·        Dhurke and Datz go to the detention center totalk with Erin

·        Basics of the case:

o  Gon’sue Yu – brought in for routine appendixprocedure, was due to be released the day of the crime (July something, 2003)

o  He asked to be left alone, barring an actualemergency, on the day of his release. They monitored his vitals remotely

o  Erin went into surgery at about 5PM and handedover care to the nurse

o  Spoilers for end of the case 

o  Erin was still in surgery, but was called outand told to hand the procedure over to someone else.  As soon as she left the OR, she was arrested.

o  Erin tells Dhurke and Datz that she didn’t knowYu, but his surname isn’t similar to anything in Khura’inese and she thinksit’s familiar

·        Dhurke and Datz go to investigate the scene andrun into hurdles because it’s still in a hospital, but are able to find alittle bit out:

o  Discarded bottle of morphine pills with thenurse’s fingerprints

o  Records of people who accessed the medicine inthe few hours leading up to Gon’sue’s seizure: Erin and the nurse

o  Erin’s files – she inherited her father’s filesas well.  In the files is a file forBla’min Yu – Gon’sue’s father.  He diedof a heart disease.

P. What are your pet peeves in other people’s work?

Hhhhh this is hard.  I go batty with overuse of words that could easily be changed out, particularly verbs for which there are many alternatives.  Out-of-character stuff also bothers me if there’s not an explanation for it (like Datz is pissy but you explain that a bird took a crap on him or something.  That’s…not a good example, I guess).

U. Any stories that took a abrupt u-turn from where you thought they were going? 

Crossfire really surprised me.  I mean, when I started texting it to you, I just wanted it to be an explanation for how Dhurke lost his eye.  And then I started ruminating on how I could make it canonically Dhurke/Datz, and it surprised me with where it took me.  And as much as I really want to show Dhurke/Datz, I struggle with writing Dhurke and the stories usually end up being about Datz alone, and more how Dhurke is a force for his change and growth.

What A Father Does was another surprise, because I hadn’t considered really how much Datz is like a father to Nahyuta and Apollo and I needed to get that out on paper.  I was also surprised that Dhurke actually wasn’t in the story nearly as much as I expected him to be.

jake-marshall answered: okay i was also confused by this! my assumption now, is that the cutscene takes place immediately before the interuption of plumed punisher, because it appears to be in the same room. the line could be attributed to case 3 as well, couldn’t it? 

I guess that could be true as well!  I would just find it a little odd because every other part of the game is in chronological order (for once; I didn’t have to hurt my brain thinking about what takes place when for the first time in like...three games?  Dual Destinies was really bad for that lol).
