June 5, 2026 - Jalca Tapaculo (Scytalopus frankeae) Found in a small area of central Peru, these tapaculos live in grassy, shrubby, and rocky areas above the tree line and in forests. They eat insects, foraging alone or in pairs on and near the ground. While little is known about their nesting behavior, birds in breeding condition have been found in July, August, and September.
