Like CT, she has lots on the go -- so much she can't be in Call The Midwife. So I'm thinking Hailey Atwell has the best chance.

OMG I’d be happy with any of those choices.  Miranda would be hilarious and Hayley Atwell has the best left eyebrow action since DT.

Joe changing his name and disappearing probably made it impossible for Ellie to file for divorce. That's why she's still Miller.

that is very plausible, and since i’m not counting on getting any further explanation from the show bc it’s such a minor detail, i will take it. if only to ease my mind on the subject, haha

I have a feeling that in Chibnall's earliest plans, Ellie was going to go back to her maiden name, but then David Tennant thickened up his brogue and make his barking of "Millahr" so iconic. The audience would feel cheated if they didn't get to hear that throughout the trilogy. So she's stuck with Miller and I blame David Tennant. ;)

I also think that in series 1 choosing to have Ellie take her husband’s name kept up the premise that she and Joe were a very happy couple and allowed Joe to hide in plain sight more effectively.

yep, absolutely i agree with the fact that it might have set red flags with the overall audience earlier on if she didn’t take his name because people are weird about stuff like that for whatever reason. and i also agree that david saying it is partly the reason too, because even when he punctuates sentences with “miller” in a normal tone of voice, it’s so natural now that we’ve heard it so often and it would seem off without it.

Between Mark, Maggie and Paul, I'm beginning to think several of the long-time characters/residents are going to move away at the end of the series to get fresh starts.

It seems likely. I’m still hoping that they’re going to resolve everything later this series so no one has to move away and I can rest in peace as well.

It would be sad to see them go, idk already it feels like a whole different Broadchurch community. I have to say I’m really scared about what’s going to happen to Mark...
