at what point can you like, incorporate real life stuff into your media? like in the phantom of the opera, that chandelier actually did come down and iirc it killed someone too

and leroux was like, no what if it was a weird guy who did it actually! and he was good at music, like really good,

can i write a story where a local bridge that came down (actually happened) due to shoddy building practices was actually caused by a hermit living inside the bridge? it happened on 9/11 2024 so it is like. is that too early?

the above example apparently came out like 11 years after the accident but ofc leroux must have been writing this for longer, or at least thought of it before??? i know he mostly wrote mystery/detective fiction before which is why his writing is like that but like. what was the train of thought here

i just met a suicidal spider apparently

was just showering. watched as a spider lowered itself to about eye level from the ceiling. i am like. okay, i can watch where the water goes and we will both have a nice time!

except. when i was rinsing myself off, i watched the spider move back up to the ceiling, so of course i look up. the spider moved on the ceiling a few centimeters- and then dropped down right where i was pointing the shower head.

i was gonna make a post about how the spider came down to watch but now i am just sad :C
