this  had  to  be  breaking  some  sort  of  rule.    sitting  on  one  of  his  students  porch  steps,    waiting  patiently  for  their  guardian  to  arrive  so  he  could  leave  with  peace  of  mind.    the  kid  had  claimed  it  would  be  fine  to  leave  him  alone  but  what  did  he  know?    he  was in eighth grade.    so,    james  waited.    outside.    head  raises  as  a  car  pulls  into  the  driveway,    standing  to  straighten  his  slacks.    ❛  hi.  ❜    he  waves  awkwardly.    ❛  i,    uh  -    i  drove  him  home.  ❜    obviously.    he  was  sure  that  she  received  a  text  informing  her.    ❛  didn’t  want  to  leave  him  here  alone,    so    –    you  must  be  drew.    i’m  james.    formally  known  as  mr.  branch  but  you  don’t  have  to  call  me  that.  ❜
