The Truro Boot and Shoe Company
One of Truro’s earliest manufacturing industries, perhaps the first, was the Truro Boot and Shoe Factory. This building housed various industries, etc.The Truro Boot and Shoe Company manufactured footwear for workers and fishermen as well as shoes. The company was run by Mr. James Killer with assistance from L. H. Verge and James E. Benjamin. Around 1878, Mr. Killer died and the Truro Boot and Shoe Company, under new management, floundered for a while before the company’s assets were liquidated. The building was soon taken over by the Gates Organ and Piano Company. (Truro Nova Scotia 1915)
