4CC Men’s Free Skate Pt 1 Notes

Chih-I Tsao has WONDERFUL packaging and basics!!!! His movements have excellent control over his movements and the way he varies the speed and moves so languidly is amazing. Honestly all he needs to work on his his jump tech and his stamina on sit spins. Definitely a skater I want to keep my eye on. And yep, his presentation is almost 20 points more than his tech. This is why you work on basics ppl!

OKAY JAMES MIN is EXCELLENT as well in terms of packaging. If Tsao has inSANE detailed control over his body movements James Min has the facial expressions. So fun to watch and a shame about the jumps...Don’t like the costume, fun program!

What is it with the minus GOEs in the choreo sequences in the first group?

It’s so clear from just watching the warmup that these skaters have excellent basics. He zhang’s edges were so fluid! Roman’s knees help him flow out of his jumps! I just love good skating guys :))

IM SCreECHING DONOVANS COSTUME HAS LITERAL MIRRORS ON IT

HE ZHANG!! Step sequence was ICONIC. His little tongue-stick-our was really adorable :) He does need to work on his lutz tho; it looks almost exactly like his flip (even more so because he has the exact same entry for the two jumps)

SIHYEONG!!!!!!! I’m just so happy to see him on the ice man lol. His jumps are just MAGICAL. So clean and pretty and his rippons!!!!! So happy he landed the 3A. Thank god his GOEs are being kind now; he’s got the quality jumps of a ladies skater in 2010! iconic choreo and fun program and GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

JUNE HYEONG!!!! His choreo sequence is absolutely iconic. So fun and fluid!!! He’s both powerful and graceful in his skating and I love it!!!! Shame about the jumps tho...his inconsistency is what usually brings him down sadly. He performed the fuck out of his program tho! As usual choreo is creative and fantastic :)

Seeing June-hyeong and Roman back to back is the BEST thing ever. Two skaters who are amazing performers!!! Roman was ON POINT with the music! Hate his costume, love his program. WE STAN ROMSKY AND HIS TASTEFUL PROGRAM!! GO CANADIAN CHAMPION!!! The jumps weren’t working for him today sadly. Looking forward to his vlog to break down what he felt and how he did at 4cc!

DONOVAN!!! Another heck of a performer! His costume is simultaneously aesthetically pleasing and too gaudy which is eXACTLY what a skating costume should be in my opinion. Amazing Ina Bauer, landed his 3As, fantastic 3LzEu3S! A nice but not exactly noteworthy program imo.

James MIN AUS:Brisbane - Men Free Skate - ISU JGP 2017

James Min had some delightfully obvious costume inspiration for his free skate at the first JGP event. The music is Fifth Element, but the costume is all Eros. 

It wasn’t a great skate for him, but it’s a good program and hopefully he’ll have the best of luck with it in the future!
