NEW MUSE!!
name: James Lawrence Beckett
FC: Domhnall Gleeson
age: late 20s to mid 30s, depending on the verse
James is a musician. A graduated, classical elitist musician.
Born to a tyrannic mother – a glamorous opera diva with more ambition than would have been healthy - and a quiet, introvert pianist father, James’ career was predestined before his birth. His father didn’t pursue a career as a concert pianist, though, and earned his money mostly as a répétiteur at ballet schools and a theatre, where he met James’ mother. Both parents couldn’t have been more different, and family life was ruled by the mother
His mother had a great vision of her only child becoming a virtuous piano prodigy and his lessons began early. And to a degree, he was that prodigy she dreamt of, but competition among young musicians is hard, and his secret love had always been the viola da gamba. So James, a sickly and frail boy with kidney issues, spent most of his childhood in practice rooms and hospitals. The piano prodigy was sent away to an elite boarding school for young musicians in Germany, where he grew up with strict discipline and relatively isolated.
He’s introvert and withdrawn, soft-spoken and a little romantic, and sometimes lacks social skills due to his isolated upbringing. The outside world is often strange to him and he didn’t have much access to pop culture when he grew up.
He is used to fulfil expectations (his mother’s, his teachers’, his professors’ and later his lovers’), and to work hard for his goals, although that means he never had many friends or social contacts. He attended college to study the piano, as his mother had wanted him to. After his studies, though, he slowly emancipated himself from his mother’s visions and wishes, and studies the viola da gamba at college, as well.
In his late twenties and early thirties, instead of filling the big concert halls, he works more and more in baroque and renaissance ensembles and consorts, where he is happier and doesn’t feel the ever-present pressure of his mother.
It’s a slow process to finally find his own ways to pursue happiness and fulfilment, to participate more in life and social contacts.
Being so consumed by his career and his health issues, he makes his first sexual encounters relatively late in his life, in his late twenties. Before that, because he doesn’t quite know how to connect with people, he developed a strong voyeuristic streak.
- likes: music, poetry, art, nature
- introvert, highly intelligent and soft-spoken, sometimes socially awkward, stiff and uptight
- sickly, frail
- vegetarian
- gay
- until his late twenties sexually inexperienced, but curious
- voyeuristic tendencies due to social awkwardness
- later, once he learns a bit more about himself and his sexual desires, he develops an interest in submission and dominance (he enjoys the part about control and humiliation more than receiving or giving pain – although he will endure or apply it if the situation calls for it)
- versatile (although he needs to feel safe to top; preferably in a relationship where he could bottom first)
A poorly drawn face ref for James with lots of notes
Face and eyes are mostly neutral but can be very expressive at times.
Hair is ‘proper’ not ‘boring’ idk
Eyes are gray blue but gray is fine
body is (somewhat muscular. He works out as a form of stress release/for fun. he’s strange)
