American High School AU Tompsellis Chapter 7: There's Someone Else
“We did,” he told her before turning his back to her to walk to his friends. Kerry shook her head, taking a hold on and pulling it towards her. He stumbled backwards, but soon caught his balance. “What the hell Kay?”
“I told you we need to talk.”
“About?” he questioned, raising his eyebrow.
“What about us?” he questioned, dumbfounded. “I thought we were good.”
“No, we’re over James,” she told him before turning on her heel, walking away from him.
“Fuck you,” she called out as she walked away. She didn’t cry, she didn’t care anymore. Kerry knew that she could do better than him. Every girl wanted him and now he could have them. Somewhat laughing to herself, she climbed the stairs two-by-two.
“Hey Kerry,” Oliver called out as Kerry walked past him. She stopped and turned on her green Converse clad heel to look at him.
“Hey,” she told him as she walked over to where he stood at his locker. “What’s up?”
“How’s the arm?” he questioned, gesturing to her left arm that was covered up by her infamous leather jacket. The black jacket-which she had bought after she inherited eighteen thousand from her mother once she turned eighteen- was always on her body or draped over desk chair.
“It still hurts,” she answered, moving to hold her arm against her stomach. “But it’s getting better.”
“That’s good,” he responded as he got his script of his locker and closed the green door. “Did you do it yet?”
“And how do you feel?” Oliver questioned as he started to walk down the hallway. Kerry shrugged slightly as she followed next to him.
“Fine, better even.” He looked over at her and smiled.
“Good.” They walked in silence down the loud, crowded hallway until Oliver stopped outside a classroom door. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck as she stopped. “Kerry…uh,” he started, looking down at the tile of the hallway. She looked at him before moving her broken arm to place her hand on his arm. He looked up and smiled softly at her. “I was wondering if you would like to go out sometime,” he muttered quietly.
“Oh,” she whispered, looking down.
“If you don’t want to, I understand, you just out of bad relationship.” She shook her head slowly while rubbing his arm. He looked up at her.
“I would love to,” she whispered, looking up at him. Oliver smiled brightly, his heart jumping up and down with joy.
“Really?” he questioned, his happiness shown in his voice. Kerry laughed slightly and moved her arms to wrap around his neck.
“Really,” she repeated, smiling at him. Oliver looked down at her, smiling as his brown eyes met her blue ones, their height difference noticeable for once.
“How does tomorrow sound?”
“Perfect,” she whispered as the bell rang. Oliver forced himself to pull away from her but lightly kissing her forehead before disappearing into a classroom. Kerry smiled to herself as she joined the flow of the other students.
She entered her French class with a sigh, spotting Mazz standing next to her desk.. “What are you doing?” The blonde asked as she walked over to her desk, slipping herself into her seat as her bag hit the ground at her feet.
“A little birdy told me that you broke up with James and have a new boy toy,” Mazz told her, pushing herself on to Kerry’s desk. She shrugged, leaning back in her chair.
“Do you have a problem with that?”
“Someone is sassy today.”
“You don’t have to take it out on me, plus since when have you had feelings for the soccer kid?”
“He has a name,” Kerry told her best friend as she bent over to get her French book out of her bag. Mazz rolled her eyes. “He came over after I got back from the hospital yesterday.”
“Is he the reason you broke up with James?” Kerry sighed and looked up at her friend.
“No Mazz. My broken arm would be the reason I broke up with James.”
“So why are you going out with Oliver?”
“Mazz, we haven’t even had our first date yet! We’re not technically dating yet.” Mazz blew her hair out of her face, shaking her head.
“Not yet, but you will be,” she whispered before the teacher walked in and started class.
