Verse: Hiding
James and Lily are in hiding with Harry, living under the Fidelius Charm.
Verse: Auror
James is serving as a newly-trained auror during the war.
Verse: Marauder
James is between the ages of 11 and 18 and he's attending school.
Verse: Not Dead
James didn't die. He was outside, chasing Albertus, when Voldemort came, and although he rushed in as quickly as he could, he'd only just reached the top of the stairs when the explosion knocked him back.
It was unbelievably hard, just him and Sirius trying to raise Harry and deal with their child's fame and the aftermath of a war, but they managed.
James Potter: Verses
James & Sirius || Deception
James was more than a little irked when Sirius didn’t show well after curfew for a second night in a row. His playful banter and carefully constructed lies were getting him nowhere when he, Remus, and Peter had questioned him earlier that day. James knew him better than that and it was borderline offensive that Sirius believed he was getting away with whatever it was he was up to. If he was delving into their precious Firewhiskey stash without him, he would hear a word or two from James about wasting the precious nectar. James, though he wouldn’t admit to it, was also more than a little worried.
By the time curfew rolled around on the second night, James’s curiosity got the better of him and he flopped down in his comfortable twin bed. He withdrew the trusty Marauders Map and sought out Sirius’s name. It took several minutes of scouring the map, reading hundreds of tiny names as students scattered towards their designated dormitories, to finally find Sirius’s name. His best mate appeared to simply be standing on the seventh floor by himself, occasionally pacing, but mostly just standing still. This went on for nearly fifteen minutes and James was just about to ask Remus and Peter what the hell they thought of the situation when another name appeared, this one approaching Sirius.
Regulus Black.
It seemed that the two were standing close together before Sirius paced and then his name literally vanished off the map, Regulus’s following soon after. It dawned on him immediately where they had gone.
The Room of Requirement.
James’s hands balled into fists. What the hell was Regulus doing with Sirius? Was that bastard trying to convince his best mate to return home? Was he hurting Sirius? James had never trusted the snake, but he’d been careful to watch his tongue around Sirius because he knew how protective and agitated Sirius could get, even when it came to the likes of his own, twisted family.
James put the map down, fully aware he couldn’t just bust in on them and demand answers. The Room didn’t work that way. Instead, James turned to an assignment.
All evening James had the map open beside him as he picked away at Charms problems that Remus refused to help him with, his eyes occasionally darting to check the map. Finally, Regulus’s name reappeared. He watched the small dot as Sirius’s brother made his way to Slytherin, anxiety twisting in his stomach as he wondered why Sirius hadn’t yet left. Did Regulus hurt Sirius and leave him in there to rot? What the fuck did the bastard do?
James didn’t know what to do. A part of him wanted to go tell McGonagall that Sirius was in danger. Another part of him wanted to go find Regulus and demand answers. An even bigger part of him wanted to go break into the Room of Requirement and find his best mate. But it was just when his thoughts went almost completely illogical that Sirius’s name finally appeared again as he exited the Room of Requirement, seemingly heading back to Gryffindor. Most of the room had long since been asleep so James quickly hid the map and stashed his homework away before he tip toed to the Common Room, plopping down to greet Sirius. Fortunately, no one else was around, everyone having gone to their dormitories to read or sleep.
When the portrait swung open, James looked up, his eyes meeting Sirius’s.
“Where the fuck’ve you been, mate? Moony’s going to write you up for being out after hours,” James smirked, teasing his mate as he did his best not to let on that he knew anything.
"I can't wait to have my fiancé become female again! That's when she is her sexiest."
