Harry always felt painfully out of his depths in parenting. It had been his greatest joy since he'd first caught sight of James, but that didn't make it any easier to feel like he was doing anything but spinning in circles wondering what his dad would have done if he'd been given the chance. And this was something entirely new, because if James and Albus were dating, nobody had bothered to tell him.

He pulled his daughter into his arms as soon as he caught sight of her, hugging her tightly in full view of everyone on the station for several long moments before he pulled back and said, "So, your brothers say you took a date to the last Hogsmead weekend? We want to hear everything about that."

Harry took a deep breath, then nodded tightly, more relieved than he'd care to admit by the fact that he wasn't going to be expected to talk immediately or to handle things without blowing anything up. "Okay. I don't have to repair the stuff after, do I?"

With his reputation and his knack for solving mysteries and sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, he quickly gained rank in the Auror department and is able to work with Hermione and others in the ministry to create some serious changes in both laws and law enforcement.

"Auror Tonks!" Harry greeted with teasing formality, waving from across the ministry atrium. He was still entrenched in training, but even he could tell that the whole department had been missing her during her maternity leave. He jogged over to her with a grin, then asked, "I don't suppose you could volunteer to be my mentor? I'm not sure I would survive some of the other options and that's coming up quickly."
