JAMES & LILY
ONE ↣ Though Lily cut herself off from Snape in fifth year after he called her a Mudblood, an event that resulted in her growing closer to Sirius, she remained reluctant of James for the rest of the year. But when she returned for sixth year after a very long and lonely summer, she invited herself into their compartment on the train. After that she was around all the time.
TWO ↣ When the time came their seventh year, it was Lily that asked James out, not the other way around. The look of confusion and disbelief she got in return was just about priceless, and Lily still brings it up from time to time. It even worked itself into her wedding speech.
THREE ↣ Lily realized she was in love with James one night in the simplest way, when he and Sirius were returning to the common room -- and it made her incredibly awkward for three days afterwards. She didn’t know how to tell him or how to act so instead she spent a lot of time hiding in the library. Her timing wasn’t opportune in saying it, either, the words falling out right before he was meant to go to one of Gryffindor’s final Quidditch matches.
FOUR ↣ She punched him once, when she was in labor. And considering she was the size of a planet and in immense amounts of pain, she likes to believe it was a good hit (it probably wasn’t.) She still claimed it was warranted, with screams blaming him for the pain she was in. Although she did apologize for it later, wired on hormones afterwards, she still claimed at the time it was warranted.
