Jim's gone for lunch with Bullock, but oh would you look at that? There's a stack of files on his desk, nothing new, in fact all of them are cold cases. Interesting.
Ed tilted his head with piqued interest, recognizing a few of those labels immediately. It had been a while since he’d looked over them, himself, but Jim’s pen was out, clearly left down beside them, indicating perhaps he had made some new notes... He glanced across the bull pen, but it seemed everyone was either engulfed in their own work, or off on their own lunch breaks, leaving the Detective’s area off of immediate radar.
He set the report he had been intending to deliver down, curiously peeking through the pages to spot any post-it-notes, highlights or scribbles in margins. If anyone could spot something he hadn’t, it would be Jim Gordon.
There were, in fact, several good notes and points and questions presented to be cross-referenced, he supposed when the Detective found time between his other cases. Ed was torn between admiring the man’s tenacity, and wondering why he felt these where worth it? Quite possibly, Gordon felt that same thrill for the chase to answers that Ed felt, solving the seemingly unsolvable being it’s own reward. As he finished making his own little laundry list of notes, he smiled to himself as he headed to the Annex.
Unfortunately, Miss Kringle also seemed to be on her lunch break. This would have been a very impressive reason to instigating conversation. Ah well. He debated waiting, but who knew when Jim would return from lunch, and found what he was looking for quick enough, including a few more similar instances to the cases that could prove useful, left a note signing them out in Jim’s name on Miss Kringle’s desk, before scurrying back to tuck the additional data files under his first, with a post-it note bearing a single “?” to mark them apart.
