GIANTS at Play LIFE with #Jazz #Legends in September of 1943 at a #Jam #Session put together by photographer extraordinaire #GjonMili in his studio. These pictures were featured in the October 11, 1943 issue of #LIFEMagazine. The songs she sung were recorded for V-Disc, but never released. Among those present at the session were #BillieHoliday, #DukeEllington, #JamesPJohnson (who accompanies #LadyDay on “Fine and Mellow”), #TeddyWilson, #MaryLouWilliams, #EddieCondon, #SidCatlett, and others... When the world still seemed to be alright and music was the pastime No. 1. I find this could be a nice goodie for the #SummerSolstice today ☀️
