Gilford Rhodes grumbled as he looked over the text he had just received from his friend, Daniel Fletcher. According to his raven-haired and green eyed American friend, the short haired blond would be getting a temporary new neighbor in his apartment building- some professor from Oxford doing a guest lecture at Harroway’s university.
“Why did they have to stay next right in 22-A? I mean honestly, what would a guest lecturer even need with two bedrooms? One bedroom, living room and the kitchenette would be more than enough.” he mumbled, hating that Bakerfield Apartments 22-B and 22-A were conjoined through a door located in his living room, which joined to the same room in 22-A. The fact that the layouts of both apartments mirrored each other didn’t help matters either. Of course, as Gilford lived alone like he preferred, he had converted the second bedroom of his apartment into a study where he kept his case journals, a computer his friend Daniel had built him, and of course, a bookcase full of various souvenirs he obtained from various missions he went on for the Black Mist for almost one hundred and twenty years.
After he managed to get dressed in a gray and dark purple waistcoat over a white, collared shirt, gray pants and black shoes, Gilford was about to pull on a pair of short white gloves that had become quite iconic for the private detective- at least in Harroway, before a knock on the door got his attention. “Hold on, I’m coming!” Gilford shouted, sticking his one hand in his pants pocket for now as he walked over to the door and opened it- glaring directly at the landlady and who he assumed was to be occupying the usually empty 22-A. “Yes?” he said coldly, while keeping both of his hands out of sight for now- no need to frighten the land lady again. Though, he would probably try and scare off the man with her once he had the chance.
