hey guys! it’s been literal YEARS since i last updated this blog, but i really miss it... so i’ve decided to post up a new playthrough! this one will be for harvest moon: pride parade - namely, the gay marriage mod for my favorite harvest moon game, animal parade! so it’s basically the best thing ever.

i’ll be revamping some stuff around here first, but i’ll get to queuing up stuff soon!

shiny tynamo!!!! at long last, i have an update for my pokemon black dream team quest. he took 20455 encounters in total to sparkle and i phased on a shiny klink and a shiny ferroseed on my path to him, but i can now finally leave chargestone cave. thankfully, he wasn't overodds for this phase (he was my 7083rd encounter).

i didn't want to do this hunt at the base 2% encounter rate for tynamo so it had some setup involved. my pichu (traded over from my copy of pkmn white; he's apparently from sinnoh!) was level 27 so that i could run a level 27 repel trick (which means pokemon at level 27 or higher were the only ones i could encounter whenever repel is active), and he also had the static ability (which increases my chance of running into electric type pokemon). this bumped my chance of running into tynamo up to a Reasonable 59%.

i had to manually reset my max repels each time (since the prompt to refresh it was actually introduced in b2w2), so that kinda sucked and made it more tiresome than a regular hunt based on random encounters, but i got into a groove with it eventually. this was the most daunting hunt for me when i was coming up with my team for this playthrough, i can't believe that it's finally over.

i don't dislike subtle shinies (the double take that i did when this lil guy appeared on my screen was the stuff of legends. i was checking out widow's bay and TOTALLY missed the sparkles - thank goodness i didn't mindlessly run from him lol), but he is going to become VERY green when he evolves into eelektross and i'm REALLY excited to see that!!! :D

yesterday i gathered up all of the dedenne cards ive managed to pull through the years bc i thought it’d be cute to see them together. my dedenne clan (dedeclan)

their cuteness as a group has inspired me to try to collect dedenne cards specifically (i get tcg packs very casually otherwise). it’s kind of difficult for me to get target cards bc i live in the caribbean and my courier service doesnt accept letter mail, which is how most card sellers sell stuff individually, BUT!!! i am going to keep on trying to get more dedennes!!!!

do you guys remember my silver team quest that i started all the way back in may 2024? my lil personal challenge to shiny hunt for all of silver's in-game pokemon at full odds? i finally have an update on that :') after SIX MONTHS of searching for her, ixora the shiny sneasel has arrived!!!

i didn't want to wait for mt. silver to hunt for a shiny sneasel, since that's the only place that they're available in hgss and i really, really wanted my hall of fame team to reflect silver's in-game team. (and sneasel is, like, a CORE component of that...) so i traded a sneasel from my soulsilver file over and got to collecting eggs. i locked in, and... darling ixora was my 11038th sneasel. MY ELEVEN THOUSAND AND THIRTY-EIGHTH SNEASEL.

THAT'S TOO MANY SNEASELS!!!

full odds shiny hunts are already brutal, and when you add eggs into the equation, they... become hellish?! LKDFGDFG WHEN I WENT OVERODDS I FELT SO AWFUL but i was determined and pressed on... i am now extremely well-acquainted with route 34 and goldenrod city since i had to do a crazy amount of biking back and forth between those two locations.

needless to say, i think this may just be the most gruelling shiny hunt i've ever done, and i can't believe that it's finally over. ;_; it feels like a dream... and, honestly, it was so worth it. i've always wanted to play a file of hgss with a sneasel on my team for the early game, and ixora will make the experience all the more special.

anyway, here is the main squad that i'll be rolling with for the rest of this file!!!

scallop the croconaw (he'll be a feraligatr someday), pepper the gengar, rosemary the crobat, coin the alakazam, mobile the magnemite (they'll be a magneton someday), aaaand ixora the sneasel! special shoutout to buttercup the meganium and cinnamon the typhlosion, who were also part of this quest as optional pokemon that silver can have, and ofc chilan the raticate who i phased on during my magnemite hunt, haha!

you can peek at all the hunts and info about them in my tag for this challenge! technically, i'm done with it now, but i'm definitely eyeing a few more silver-centric hunts in this file thanks to pokemas... (namely, shiny ho-oh and shiny larvitar.) we'll see what happens...!

she’s green for an amazing reason

heheheh shiny woobat!!! my 9300th random encounter on the dot within wellspring cave. i had a 50% chance of phasing on a roggenrola but that timeline did not come to pass. yippee

this little woobat is part of my pokemon black dream team quest! i tried out multihunting (Dual Wielding DSes) for her and it worked out really well. i was worried that it’d feel less cozy than using one system but it was totally fine and it sped things up a lot, so i’ll probably do more shiny hunts like that in the future too. it paid off extremely well bc she actually sparkled in my pokemon white version. it’s cool to have a part of my og unova file as part of this challenge!

anyway, her name is gretel and i love her! :D

i decided to shiny hunt a little tonight with my new ds and... this... is an extremely good omen, i think. LMAO. meet caldera, my new shiny litwick and the 5th member of my pokemon black dream team quest!!! since he was my 3201st encounter, he was super under-odds!

chandelure has one of my absolute favourite shiny designs. i was gonna look for a shiny litwick to evolve up into one no matter what (it's a dream team, after all!), only to learn that this hunt is actually really, really easy...!!! it just comes down to raw encounters. in pokemon black & white, litwicks have an encounter rate of 100% on the 2nd floor of the celestial tower AND they're too low levelled to know memento (a move that causes them to faint themselves </3) - so you don't have to worry about anything or do any setting up for it at all. i still used Sweetie the watchog for her illuminate ability, which makes wild pokemon appear more frequently, and gave her a smoke ball so that we could run away from encounters no matter what.

after the chaos that was my tynamo hunt, this hunt was really relaxing. it felt so good to just know that i would get my target whenever something sparkled, whenever that was. and getting it today on my new ds lite that i absolutely love is just so... idek. i can't believe it, it feels so special and almost fated?!?

anyway, only one more target to go for this challenge!! YIPPEE
