The Green Briar Jam Kitchen has a long tradition of producing delicious jams, jellies and preserves. Their sun-cooked strawberries are my personal favorite. It began with Ida Putnam and then Martha Blake. When Miss Blake was in her Eighties, The Thornton Burgess Society assumed responsibility for this property. Under their stewardship, the jam making continued. If you would like to learn how to make jams and jellies, you can even take classes there. Many of the classes are family-friendly and children are welcome. The Thornton Burgess society also operates a nature center and herb garden on the property. It is located on Route 6 in Sandwich, MA.
