From a corporate viewpoint and because there was a rebrand, if they wanted to backdoor Jacob/Louis this would be the time to do it.
They could have had Eric and Jennifer do most interviews with Sam. They could have pull Joseph from wherever he is hiding and throw Asaad in there too. Which would have been loyal to the book.
Jacob could have paired with Delainey. But that didn't happen. Instead we got all types of Jamstat interviews and photo shoots and thirsty tweets.
We also got Louis in the first few scenes which is already laid out for season 5. And we know he is interested in doing the body thief storyline.
As for Jacob seeming irritated well he said last time he doesn't like doing pre-show pressers because they are limited to what they can say. And he joked that he was going to start lying with his answers.
So him being frustrated doesn't seem to be with the show but the same 5 questions they all are asked. And in the other interview he was more open because there were actual real questions.
I absolutely agree Mark is the worst but he is also very well respected so we are pretty much stuck with him.
This season already seems to be stressing people out, but we have to remember that this show is still an impactful opportunity for Jacob. He is a 36 year old Black man who isn't trying to be a huge star. You can tell this by the choices of the female directors he wants to work with.
This man seems to be content making music, doing smaller more independent film projects and tv shows and building a character and fandom with his best friend while getting paid. And I think his fans should respect that even if they want him to be the next MBJ or Coleman Diego.
