Wild Domain - The Natural History of Jane Dodd Jewellery
Flying Nun Records 1993 calendar featuring the month of August as illustrated and designed by Jane Dodd of The Verlaines and Able Tasmans.
Not only is Jane Dodd a fiercely talented bassist—something I was lucky enough to experience first-hand at a one-off Verlaines classic lineup reunion in 2016—here she shows off her illustration and design chops. I love the mesmerizing sequence of pointed, shaded wave peaks, with the silent surrender of the upturned boat.
This was her contribution to the 1993 Flying Nun calendar, filled with the work of many musicians from that label’s mid-90s stable. And her bio on the back of the calendar also sheds light on her other design accomplishments: cover designs for the Able Tasmans’ 1990 album Hey Spinner and the Verlaines’ "Doomsday” single from 1986.

There's better people to know
