Another weekend of work. Wedding in the beautiful Larchfield and then off to Armagh Royal for a dinner
location: Marina Food, mom's kitchen, Jane's kitchen
On New Year's day, we went to a family friend's place and had a nice, simple dinner together.
This is some squid from the food section of Marino Food (supermarket). I don't eat their food very often, but it was nice to eat some of this squid which I haven't had in a long time. It doesn't have a lot of flavor, but it has a nice chewy/crisp texture.
Next, some tendon. I really like tendon, so I enjoyed this. Tendon has a chewy, elastic texture.
This is egg, tofu and seaweed, which are nice to snack on.
This is some chili garlic pepper shrimp my mom made. The shrimp were pan fried in just a little bit of oil. Then, ginger, green onion, chilis and garlic were added to the pan, with white pepper salt. After allowing the aroma of these ingredients to be released, the shrimp were added back in. This had delicious flavor on the shell and the texture of the shrimp was tender and crisp.
Next, some bamboo and tofu my mom made. This dish is in many locations on my blog because it is one of my favorite things to eat. I just love the combination of tofu and bamboo and because it doesn't have any meat, it's refreshing and light.
This is a beef and vegetable dish my family friend made. The beef was juicy and the vegetables were crisp and had soaked up the flavor from the beef.
This is a soup with 貢丸 (gong wan) and daikon my family friend made. 貢丸 is a type of meatball and it was nice to eat along with the soup, deliciously flavored by the daikon. I really like 貢丸 but I think it's best in Taiwan!
