Okay. Let’s start off with Davesprite. Davesprite, dated Jade and its implied that they went steady for a decent amount of time, and that they managed to remained friendly afterwards. It’s also heavily implied that Dave has feelings for John, and of course Davesprite, being Dave, has probably carried on these feelings too. So Dave obviously has some attraction to their shared traits. Also, in the SBAHJ book, Dave’s author comments mention that it is a rule that your bro’s mom will always be hot. Always. Then there’s Jane. Jane was definitely interested in Jake, but the probably was that he wasn’t nearly intuitive or selfless enough to understand what she wanted from him, which isn’t his fault, but was still a major problem for their relationship. Davesprite, on the other hand is far more intuitive to people and gets things quicker, but he isn’t nearly as standoffish or aggressive as Jake, which makes him a nice medium of the two boys in Jane’s life. Also, Daves in general are prone to self sacrifice and tend to value other people over themselves. This isn’t really the keystone of a great relationship, but it’s better for Jane than Jake’s self absorption. Jane also tends to be more practical and logical than the rest of her family, with perhaps Jade coming in at second, so she lacks the blunt insensitivity that John sometimes has. Not to mention, Jane from the very beginning has said that she loves Dirk’s autoresponder, and tends to see it as more than a different entity than as Dirk’s clone like Jake did. Jane could easily treat Davesprite and the Alpha Timeline Dave completely differently.
