this book (breaking their will) is really good so far, but I do disagree with her presenting this passage as an inherently positive one for children in religious families. in this section, she’s discussing depictions of children and childrearing in the bible and how they might be interpreted. this one she listed as a mark in the good column, but in my experience, it’s used to glorify unthinking obedience.
