his  initial  reaction  is  to  flinch  at  hearing  the  crunch  into  the  rough  material.  however ,  he  manages  to  slowly  reach  his  hand  out  to  the  rock ,  lowering  it  back  down  to  the  ground.  he  did  this  while  shaking  his  head  in  a  polite  manner.

    “ try all you like. ”    it seemed as if getting a reaction out of byleth had become a goal of more than a few people these days. sure, they were rather stoic, so it made some sense to them.  byleth was  aware  that their lack of expression / emotions was unnatural.  perhaps not as much when they were a child  ,as their was no other example to be set than their father ,  but ever since they had a chance to actually be around people, get to know them – actually communicate and converse.  their heart had a chance to grow in response.  

   byleth themself isn’t even quite sure what it would take to catch them off guard. naturally, they are rather alert – and not much scares them.  perhaps certain circumstances would have to be met in order to startle them.  good luck, gon.

Goku hadn’t even been paying attention (he was really invested in eating the spit-roasted dino meat), and didn’t realize he was being hoisted up until he was already in the air.

     “W-Woah! Wow kid, you’re really strong!!” the saiyan blurted, still holding the leg of meat (and eating it), “After I finish this, we totally gotta have a battle!”

Goku had emerged from the water, carrying a massive fish in one hand. It flopped around pretty ferociously, but after tossing it in the air and landing a swift punch across it’s mid-section, it stopped moving.

     “Alright! Lunch is almost ready~” the saiyan chimed to himself.

And then suddenly, he felt a presence nearby. It was-- well, it was definitely not a normal energy he’d felt before. It was strong! Goku noticed the boy approach, and he was almost shocked to realize that the energy was coming from the kid!

     “Woah, hey there! Didja come here to fish too?”
