All Aboard the Greenship!
This weekend I had my first taste of being involved in the building of an Earthship-style greenhouse, or Earthship, North of Edmonton, Alberta. My sister Laryssa is the Project Manager and Chief Inspiration Officer for the Greenship which is being built in conjunction with the Aspen Centre for Integral Living (ASIL). After graduating from Earthship Academy in Uruguay in March, Laryssa’s intention is to bring her skills and knowledge home and collaborate with an army of awesome humans interested in sustainable living.

Working on the retaining wall
Watching my Big Sis take on a project of this magnitude while sharing her knowledge with the community has been wildly gratifying. This weekend, the Greenship team arrived on the land to a freshly-excavated worksite where we began trench digging, tire pounding and building a retaining wall.

This project has sparked a deep interest in me to build, collaborate and learn from the green-thumbs around me. After weekend one, I’m hooked. Here’s to an upcoming summer and autumn of watching the Greenship evolve!
