JANUARY AUTHOR CHALLENGE: DAY 31 Advice for Novice Writers: I love this quote because it sums up the difference between a writer and a hobbyist. Finishing your project. You just have to plant yourself down at your desk and write until you can’t write anymore and then force yourself to do it again the next day. That’s one part of it. When you finish, feel proud. Don’t worry about publishing, and literary agents, and all the snobs of the book world because chances are most of them haven’t written anything themselves. Congratulate yourself that you got this far and celebrate the work that you created, your magic. And never let anyone make you feel like it’s not an accomplishment. Be proud of your work! But then keep working. That’s the second part. Is to truly celebrate what you created before diving into the struggle that is editing lol but seriously if there’s one piece of advice that I can give it is that your work is just as important as some published author. They started out exactly where you did. They’re by no means better than you or more talented. They started with an idea, then a story, then a finished manuscript and then worked hard to share that story with the world. And that’s your job. But you and your stories are not defined by publishing. I know a lot of indie works ten times better and more beautiful than have the stories produced by “professional publishing.” And if you do happen to get published by a corporate publishing house that’s something to be proud of too. But what you’re really defined by is how hard you work to make your dream of sharing what you created come true, regardless of whether you are self published, published through a firm, or on a fan fiction site! And I will always support my fellow writers, anyone willing to put themselves out there and work hard to achieve their dreams in my writing community. #authorsofinstagram #authorssupportingauthors #januaryauthorchallenge #advicefromauthors #workhard #writingcommunity #whatdreamsaremadeof (at Martinez, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8A5jaogemT/?igshid=is52f5q3131a
