What is procurement's Janus Project, and why will it benefit both practitioners and ProcureTech solution providers?
okay so
from the response i've gotten i think it's safe to headcanon the fact that the resurrection that brings chaos back is going to be a new thing within the company. they've been relatively successful on staving death and keeping people alive in the first place but i'm going to write this with the idea that this is the first time they've taken someone dead and reactivated them.
but i'm also going to play it like it's not actually some experimental thing they got lucky with. bli has had the secret of reactivation for... months, maybe even years now. there's a whole conspiracy about it, which is where all the rumors of it in the desert originated from. but reactivation is 1) costly 2) invasive 3) a pain to maintain because they don't just bring you back, they gotta keep actively working to keep you alive (hence the check-ups chaos will have to have)
that plus there's an implied 4th clause, which is that, depending on the damage you take at the time of death, they may or may not be able to reactivate you in the first place.
so here's what i imagine...
the janus project had a long stint of trying to discover the secret to reactivation. they used killjoys that were killed and brought in from the field and also the bodies of killjoys that were put down in detainment. they experimented on the bodies and, if they were successful in bringing them back, they monitored and observed them for another long period of time before killing them off and moving onto the next group.
also i want to point out that the reactivation is a one-time only thing. unlike any sort of biotech that involves regeneration to prevent death, she's just as susceptible to injuries as she was before her first death. if she dies again, there is no guarantee that they'll be able to bring her back a third time (so far it's been next to impossible to do so but they're still working on it so).
i also want to work out some ways that reactivation is negatively affecting her physically because there's pretty much nothing about the process itself that i want to be pleasant for.. anybody.... yep....
