2 Japan Vlog Documentaries to watch about how Japan prepares itself for the Mega-Earthquake
The Day Japan Fears The Most: $1 Trillion Disaster
YouTuber Chris Broad goes to Wajima, the place where the powerful earthquake hit Japan early this year on New Year's Day 2024. The town is still recovering while the locals are still trying to get over the trauma as they gradually resume their "normal" life which is not easy.
After which, he goes to Tokyo to find out how prepared the city is for a much powerful earthquake that Japan fears the most. And discovers the engineering marvel being constructed in underground Tokyo as a countermeasure for the inevitable day.
A more detailed and technical look into the impressive countermeasures being put in place across Tokyo, both on the ground and beneath it, in anticipating of the big one, including Mt Fuji eruption, tsunami, typhoon, fire and flooding. Japan learn from its past natural disasters to figure out better ways of managing them.
It's interesting to see their systematic approach to solve one problem at a time, from designing buildings to withstand earthquakes, planning the city landscapes to minimize fire from spreading, building more reservoirs, widening the rivers and massive pipelines to prevent flooding. Converting existing buildings for self-sustenance to avoid overwhelming the evacuation centers, and so much more.
One thing for sure, the countermeasures are no half measure at all.
