Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Now, far be it from me to actually give a valid opinion on poetry works. I don’t read them much and I’m of the mindset poetry is the most subjective of writing styles but I will try to give my honest objective opinion. I found this particular collection to hold a very strong cadence that I think can really be felt in the way the author designed these poems. Each carrying its own specific rhythm but maintaining the overall depth portrayed in the words themselves.
I gave it a 3 out of 5 because while I found this to be well written and creative, I did not find myself with particularly strong feelings (this is where it gets hard to stay objective). This was a collection based on emotions we all share and sometimes dwell in; new hopes, disappointments, dark days and fear of loss, all very relatable but I didn’t find many of the poems to resonate as strongly as I think they had the potential to do. It’s more eloquent than anything which I very much respect and I do hope others would find this anthology to be more impactful than it may have been for me.
