Animation Artist in Residence Tokyo Open for Applications
The Japan Image Council (JAPIC) announces its program “Animation Artist in Residence Tokyo 2016″ (A-AIR) is now calling for applications from emerging artists. The project — organized by the Agency of Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan (Bunka-cho) and run by Japan Image Council since 2010 — exists to provide three outstanding young animation artists from around the world with an opportunity to come and work in Tokyo while directly interacting with the local animation community, promoting both creativity and cross-cultural exchange.
The Residency period is January 7 through March 17 of 2016. During their stay, the three accepted applicants will produce new animated works under the guidance of Japanese animation professionals, visit local studios and educational institutions and interact with people involved in animation or other cultural pursuits. The work will be presented at the end of the residency term and at film festivals domestically and abroad.
