Elena of Avalor 2022 Doodle Dump

Some fanart I did last year of Elena which I never posted online before ;_; thought I'd post em here so they'd be seen by fellow Avalor fans!

First 4 are the scrapped colour meme, Red (normal - but I drew her Día de los Muertos outfit cause its my fav), Orange (rage), Yellow (joy) and made up a Green (envy).

The 5th piece is a redraw of a doodle I did of jaquin elena back in 2018.

And the last one is just a random sketch.

So I don’t really have any fictotypes, right? Like, I DEFINITELY have fictional characters that I relate to and see myself in, but never any that I claim to be a fictotype. However, ever since I watched Elena of Avalor years ago, I have been NEEDING to be one of these jaquins!!!! And not even a specific character in the show, but just the breed themselves! I have envied these things for YEARS!!!! They are so AWESOME!!!!! I need to be a flying big cat to make my soul complete!!!!!

I created a mythical species….

Honestly it’s more than just a mythical species. I spent most of today building this entire world around one drawing I decided to randomly do.

And so may I present to you….

Aurora Raphaella!

She is what is called a Jaquin, a mythical creature from Latin American legends. Said to be vicious and ugly beasts, part Jaguar, part bird; they are quite the opposite. Jaquins are elegant creatures with their own culture and traditions, they are diverse in color and style, and they are just as beautiful as they are mysterious.

Aurora is just over 500 years old in Jaquinian years, and while that might seem old she is only about 23 in human years. She identifies herself as genderfae, and is a lesbian!

Aurora comes from a family of six: her mother, father, and three sisters. She is the second oldest of her sisters. She and her family live in Tierra de Nubes (Land of Clouds in Spanish), a hidden city on the Andes Mountains on the border of Columbia and Ecuador. This city is a safe haven for Jaquins, lost to time and tucked far away from humans.

Aurora’s personality is very bright and friendly, and almost childlike. She is very competitive, and often challenges her other sisters to races around the city. Only her eldest sister can match her intense spirit.

However she also happens to be quite naive and gullible at times, often falling for her younger sister’s pranks. She tends to be very impulsive as well, a side effect of her competitiveness. She puts her heart into everything she does and runs risk of getting her emotionally wounded when things go awry.

Aurora loves to dance! Ever since she was little she loved watching salsa dancers perform and taught herself how to dance, with the help of her mother.

She also loves flying. She races around the city with her older sister nearly every day, and tends to crash into stands in the marketplace.

She loves to eat extremely spicy foods, a trait passed down from her father. Aurora searches out the spiciest dishes and challenges her father to see who can withstand the heat. She has yet to win any of these challenges, but she’s getting close!

Aurora’s outfits mostly consist of traditional Jaquinian salsa dancer tops (sport bra-styled) and sweatpants she buys from merchant Jaquins that visit the town occasionally with human clothes. She also likes chokers, another human item that she buys from merchants.

—This is all copy-pasted from my notes, and this isn’t even HALF of it. I have an entire folder in my notes for this! I have culture and holidays I made up for them, their own currency, so on and so forth. I’m OBSESSED with these now!!!

If you want me to make a tickle OC out of this I can, but Aurora is much more than a tickle OC. However, I’m willing to write a profile and headcannons for tickling specifically that would be just for Tumblr. Let me know what you think!
