Jas Mann of Babylon Zoo / photo by Rankin
Rockin’ On Magazine - April, 1996
MOAR Jas Mann in the 90′s. COMPLETELY RE-INSPIRED. AB0UT my life. EVERYTHING
Happy Universal Spaceman Day! Today marks the day - 30 years ago the song "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo was released. I write about my experience, and how this song changed music forever.
You know me!
You can now read the prologue to the Babylon Zoo biography. Exciting times as its not long to Universal Spaceman Day 15/01/26.
"I killed your mother, I killed your sister, I killed you all" were some of the original lyrics of Spaceman by Babylon Zoo. Come to my Substack launching on 15 January 2026 to nerd out with me and find out more about the rise, fall and reemergence of Jas Mann. @babylonzoo.official #babylonzoo #jasmann #spaceman https://muggedbygod.substack.com/
The late 90's and the rock back then had many interesting musicians within the idiom as we have already heard. Though some of them didn't carry on, they crashed and burned. One of them could be Babylon Zoo, but we shouldn't be surprised over their consequent fate. You see, the success of their debut single was just way too much for them to handle, though I am shocked they still managed to do two albums on the basis of the latter's triumph. King Kong Groover, their final one, might be a case of too little, too late, but let's say they had another chance to get things right you could see the the disc as a transitional disc towards, yes, we can go too far in this game. However, there was something about them, they merely presented all their cards too soon.
