Work Up the Nerve

Pairing: Jasmine x Reader

Request: “Maybe one where Jasmine tries to admit her feelings but one way or another can't but in the end it's the reader whi does the first step (?)” - @lunamadhatter99

“What do you mean she likes me?” I asked Lin, clarifying. “I mean I was talking to Jasmine and she told me she likes me” Lin said, for the fourth time. “And you're sure she wasn’t talking about a different Y/N?” I asked him. I was still doubting that this was even true.

“You’re the only Y/N she knows” he told me. “Well what am I supposed to do? Do I ask her out and tell her that you told me?” I asked him. “No no no, you can’t tell her I told you. She’ll get so upset” Lin said. “Well what am I supposed to do, pretend I don’t know?” I asked him.

“Well maybe you should just ask her? Not directly, but maybe drop hints. Or ask if she likes anyone?” Lin suggested. “Yeah, that could work. Thank you for telling me. I have to get going, we’re supposed to hang out at her apartment” I told him, grabbing my stuff as I got up to leave.

“Okay, bye. Tell me if she ends up confessing” Lin told me, as he walked me to the door of his apartment. “I will, bye” I said, as I left. I heard him close the door behind me and I walked over the few blocks that it was to Jasmine's apartment.

Lin had called me and told me to come over immediately. Then, I went over there and found out that the prettiest girl I knew had a crush on me. I was pretty shocked by the whole thing.

I got to Jasmine’s apartment and knocked on the door. Within seconds, the door opened and I saw Jasmine standing there, as beautiful as ever. “Hey, I’m so glad you could make it. Come in come in” she said, gesturing for me to come inside.

“So how are you?” I asked her, as she closed the door. “I’m really good, how are you?” She asked me, as she pulled me in for a quick hug. “I’m pretty good, I’ve been looking forward to tonight” I told her, honestly. “Aww that’s good, I have been too” she said, smiling. “Well you promised to make dinner, so I was super excited” I said, giggling.

“Oh yeah, speaking of dinner, it’s done and in the kitchen if you want to see it” she said, leading me into the kitchen. Every time she said or did something, it only made me realize that she clearly liked me. It felt wrong to not tell her that I knew, it felt like I was hiding something from her. And we never kept secrets from each other.

We walked into the kitchen and I saw spaghetti along with various vegetables. “Wow this looks so good” I said, my mouth starting to water. “Well I know you love pasta” she said, smiling.

She made two plates and then we walked to go sit down at the table and eat. I decided now would be a good time to try and see if I could get her to confess.

“So how did your date go the other day?” I asked her, knowing that she didn't mention any kind of date. “What do you mean? I didn’t go on a date the other day” she said, giggling. “Oh whoops, it must have been someone else. But you had to have gone on a date recently, right? I mean, are you still single?” I asked her, trying to get her to admit that she liked me.

“No, I haven’t been on a date in a while. I do have the slightest crush on somebody though” she said, and a twinkle appeared in her eyes. I thought that she was totally about to tell me. “Really? Who’s the lucky lady?” I asked, pretending to be intrigued.

Then, I saw fear in Jasmine’s eyes. “Oh, no one you would know” she said, simply. It was like her mood had changed completely. I dropped the subject, thinking maybe if I didn’t push her then she’d tell me.

We finished eating dinner and decided to watch a movie. I picked some cheesy high school movie, where a girl is majorly crushing on some guy.

“Those were the days” I whispered, about ten minutes into the movie. “What do you mean? You miss high school?” Jasmine asked, looking over at me. “Well not exactly, I miss when you liked someone in high school. The jitters you would get whenever they were in the same room as you. The way that everything they did just seemed perfect” I said, looking over at Jasmine, and staring into her eyes. Once again, she looked like she wanted to say something, but ultimately decided against it.

“I’ll be right back” I huffed, as I walked away and into the kitchen. I took a few deep breaths and tried to calm down. I wasn’t mad at her, I just felt frustrated. I had given her a few opportunities to tell me and something was still stopping her. I would never fault her for feeling nervous and not wanting to tell me, I just didn’t know how to get her to realize that I liked her too.

I walked back in the room. “Hey are you okay?” Jasmine asked, concerned. I started to pace around in front of the television. “I need to tell you something” I said, sternly. I stopped pacing and turned towards Jasmine.

“Uh....okay?” She said, clearly confused. “I like you Jasmine, and I have a feeling that you like me too. I keep trying to give you hints or make you realize, but none of it is working. So I’m done with beating around the bush, I’m telling you straight up. I really really like you Jasmine” I confessed, all of it just spilling out of me.

I felt weightless. All of that pressure and secrecy was finally lifted off my shoulders, and I no longer felt that burden.

“You’re completely right, I like you too. I just could never work up the nerve to tell you” she said, seeming just as relieved as I was. “I’m glad that we finally confessed that” I said, giggling and pulling her into a hug.

Who Would’ve Thought

Pairing: Jasmine x Reader

Request: “A jcj fic where the reader is Daveed or Oak’s “cousin”, and they try to hook you up with her because they know she’s your celeb crush? The reader would be fem btw” @kmsmedine

“Daveed, why do I have to do this?” I asked. Daveed was a family friend and though we weren’t blood-related, I considered him like a cousin or brother. I had known him since I was like ten years old, so that meant he knew everything about me. That meant, he knew that I hated surprises. Yet tonight, I found myself getting ready for a blind date that he had set up for me.

“Because you’ve been single for too long and you’re starting to get cranky” Daveed said. “I am totally not cranky, but why can’t you tell me who I’m meeting?” I asked him. “Because it’s a surprise, but you’ll love her. I promise” he said.

I stood up from my vanity, “How do I look?” I asked him. “You look great, now go get your stuff. We’re going to be late” Daveed said, rushing me. “You know, you’re lucky that I love you and I trust you, or I would not go along with this crazy scheme of yours” I told him as we walked to the car.

After of a fifteen minute car ride of me begging Daveed to tell me who the mystery woman was and him telling me no every time, we finally arrived at the restaurant.

Daveed led me inside and we walked over to a booth. There was a girl that was sitting there with her back to us. She had brown, curly hair. We sat down and I realized that I knew exactly who she was. It was Jasmine.

I had seen Hamilton once, but I didn’t meet the rest of the cast. So I found all their Instagrams after the show because I was blown away. Then, I had raved to Daveed for hours on the phone about how stunning Jasmine was. Daveed was very aware of my not-so-subtle crush.

I knew that I had to not let my crush come across, or she would think I was creepy. “Wait...Jasmine, right?” I asked her, pretending like I was unsure. “Yeah, how’d you know?” She asked me, laughing. “I saw Hamilton once, I knew you looked familiar” I said, smiling. “Jasmine, this is Y/N. She’s practically my sister. Y/N, this is Jasmine, one of my best friends” Daveed said, introducing us.

“It’s really nice to meet you” she said, smiling. “Yeah you too! Now Daveed, I think it’s time for you to leave” I said, shooing him away. “Have fun you guys” he said, smirking at us as he left.

“So Y/N, what do you do?” She asked me. “I’m a freelance photographer. So I do all kinds of photo shoots, from weddings to baby pictures” I explained. “So, not to be too forward, but what you’re saying is, if you we were to work out and maybe get married, you would know the right people to take our wedding photos” she flirted.

“That’s exactly what I’m saying” I said, smiling at her. She reached her hand across the table and interlaced it with mine. “Has anyone ever told you that you’re really pretty?” I asked her. “Maybe a few, but it means more coming from you” she said, coyly. “You’re quite a flirt, aren’t you?” I asked her, giggling.

“Only when I like what I see” she said, smiling. “Let’s get out of here, this restaurant is stuffy. Let’s take a walk or get ice cream or something” I suggested. “I love me a spontaneous woman” Jasmine said, as we stood up and left the restaurant.

She interlaced her hand with mine and we walked down the street. “If we’re being completely honest, I may have known who you were when I sat down. I saw Hamilton and I may have developed a slight little crush” I told her, honestly.

“So that explains the blushing when you sat down” she said, giggling to herself. “Ooo wait, this is the best ice cream shop in all of New York! We have to get some” I told her, pulling her towards the ice cream shop.

We ordered our ice cream and Jasmine paid before I could get to it. We were walking down the street, eating our ice cream. I looked over and saw that Jasmine had some ice cream on her nose.

I giggled to myself. “What?” She asked, cluelessly. “You have it on your nose” I said giggling. “Wait really? Where?” She asked, her cheeks turning red. I stepped closer to her and wiped it off her nose with my napkin.

Then I realized how close we were. Our faces were only inches apart. Being around Jasmine made me feel confident, so I cupped her face with one hand and connected our lips.

She kissed me back instantly, her lips tasted like her minty ice cream. She used her free hand and ran it through my hair as we kissed. I felt her tug on my bottom lip with her teeth. Then, she slipped her arm around my waist and pulled me closer to her. We were pressed up against each other and then we pulled away to breathe.

“Wow” I said, under my breath. “Wow is right. As far as first kisses go, that was pretty spectacular” she said, smiling at me. “So do you see a second date in our future?” I asked her, as we continued to walk down the street. “Yeah and a third and a fourth” she said, smiling at me. “Well that is great news” I said.

Jasmine was so easy to be around, we had only just met, but I felt like I’d known her forever. I felt very calm and at peace when I was with her.

“Who would’ve thought” Jasmine said, under her breath. “What?” I asked, confused. “Who would've thought that Daveed would be a good matchmaker” she said, laughing. “Right? I was totally dreading tonight, I thought he would set me up with some crazy girl and I wanted tonight be over as quick as possible. But now, I don’t want tonight to end” I said, cheekily.

“Well who says tonight has to end?” Jasmine proposing. “Well what are you suggesting?” I asked, curiously. “How about we go back to my place? No expectations for anything, by the way. Just to hang out, although maybe a little kissing” she said, smirking.

“I am totally down” I said, smirking back at her. We talked all the way to her apartment. We walked into her apartment and I was instantly drawn to a big open window in her living room.

“Woah look at the view from up here” I said, in awe. “There’s a much prettier view in front of me” Jasmine said, pulling me toward her for a kiss.

That night was fun to say the least. We watched funny television shows. Which lead to us trying to catch popcorn in our mouths while the other person threw it. We turned on some music and had a dance party in the kitchen, while making cookies. Then we had ended up, collapsing on Jasmine’s bed. Exhausted from all the cookies we had eaten. Then we ended up cuddling and falling asleep in each other’s arms.

Needless to say, I would have to remember to thank Daveed for setting me and Jasmine up.

Latte Voodoo

Pairing: Jasmine x Reader

Summary: Y/N is a barista and Jasmine comes to the coffee shop everyday and orders a pumpkin latte. Y/N questions why she’s coming in everyday

I heard the bell chime as the front door opened. I looked up and saw a pretty brunette girl walking in the door. “Hi, welcome to the Coffee Club, what can I get you?” I asked her, as she walked up to the register.

I worked as a barista at a local coffee shop. Normally, we were pretty slow so we got to interact with the customers more than if we were super busy.

“I’ve never been here before, what would you recommend?” She asked me. “Well we have our seasonal pumpkin latte right now. That’s one of my person favorites” I told the girl.

“Well then, I guess I’ll try that” She said, smiling. “Alright. Coming right up. I’m Y/N by the way” I said, as I grabbed a cup and started to make her drink.

“I’m Jasmine, it’s nice to meet you. This coffee shop is really cute, maybe I should start coming here more often. You know, if the coffee is any good” she teased me. “If the coffee is any good? Are you doubting my skills?” I asked, pretending to be offended. “I guess I’ll have to see how good this latte is” she said.

“Well now I really have to make it perfect. If I screw it up, you won’t come back and that would be very sad for me” I said, testing the waters. I saw her cheeks redden and she looked down at her hands and smiled to herself.

After a few more minutes of small talk, I had finished making her drink. “Drum roll please, now presenting your freshly made pumpkin latte” I said, in a super cheesy, dramatic voice.

“It’s time for the test” Jasmine said, taking the drink from my hand. She took a sip and it looked like she was thinking for a second. “Sooo, how did I do?” I asked her, crossing my fingers.

“I’m not going to lie, this is really good” she said, with a smile. “So on a scale of 1-10, what are the odds that you’ll be coming back?” I asked her. “I would say there is a pretty good chance that you’ll see me again” she said, smirking. “Well that will give me something to look forward to” I said, smiling.

“Bye Y/N” she said as she started to leave. “Bye Jasmine” I said, with a stupid grin stuck on my face.

The whole rest of my shift, she was all I could think about. I went home and picked out a cute outfit, so that if Jasmine came to the shop again, I would look amazing. It took me forever to fall asleep. I couldn’t get her out of my mind. Her curly brown hair and her hazel eyes were stuck in my head all night.

I finally got to the shop in the morning, and I felt like a kid in a candy store. Every time I heard the bell chime, I got my hopes up, hoping it was Jasmine. It never was, it was just some other customer.

Then I heard the bell chime, and I almost didn’t want to even look up. But I did, and I saw Jasmine walking in.

“You came back!” I exclaimed, excitedly. “I couldn’t not come back, that was the best latte I’ve ever had. The company here isn’t half bad either” she said, smirking. “So I assume you’ll be getting the pumpkin spice latte again?” I asked her. “How could I say no?” She said, smiling.

“Let’s see if I can top the one I made yesterday” I said, as I started mixing the ingredients together. “I don’t know, you set the bar pretty high yesterday” she told me.

This time, when I finished her drink, I sprinkled some cinnamon on top, to spice it up. I handed her the drink. “Oh look, it’s all fancy today” she said, giggling.

Her laugh sounded like perfection, it just made me fall for her even harder.

“Oh yeah, I think you dropped this on the floor when you were making my drink” she said, putting a piece of paper on the counter. I was confused, I didn’t think I had dropped anything.

I looked down at the paper and in Jasmine’s perfect handwriting, it said “call me :)” and then had her phone number.

I felt my cheeks heat up, it felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. “I will definitely use this” I said, smiling and putting it in my pocket. “I was hoping you would” she said, smiling back at me.

“So I’ll see you tomorrow?” I asked her. “You know it” she said, as she left the coffee shop.

I couldn’t believe that Jasmine had given me her phone number. She was like the prettiest girl I had ever met. I quickly put her phone number into my phone and put a bunch of hearts next to her contact name.

For the next week, Jasmine came in every day and ordered her pumpkin latte. We would share some banter about whether she would order her usual or spice it up. She always picked the pumpkin latte, she told me it was the best coffee she’d ever had.

Today was Halloween, and Jasmine walked in just like every other day. “Hey Jas, how are you?” I asked her. Every time she walked in, she brought a smile to my face.

“I’m doing great, how are you?” She asked me. “I’m doing pretty good, I love Halloween” I told her. “Me too, so you have any big plans tonight?” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me. We both started to laugh to ourselves.

“No, I’m going to stay home and watch Hocus Pocus, probably three times, and eat way to much candy” I told her. I started to make her drink, I didn’t even have to ask what she wanted anymore. “That sounds fun, my roommate invited me to some dumb party one of her friends is having. So what that means is my roommate will find a guy to go home with. And I will be stuck by myself at this party, until I find someone who’s not drunk to give me a ride home” she said, faking excitement.

“Oh that’s a bummer” I told her. I quickly made the rest of her drink and handed it to her.

“Can I ask you something?” I asked her. “Yeah sure” she said, encouragingly. “Why do you come here everyday?” I asked her, curiously. “Well if I’m being honest, you make the best pumpkin latte I’ve ever had. Truly it’s some latte voodoo. And also, um... you’re really pretty and you’re really easy to talk to” she confessed.

I could feel my cheeks heat up, it wasn’t the answer I was expecting at all. “Well just so you know, you’re really pretty too. So how about you come over to my place tonight and we can watch Hocus Pocus together, I promise it’ll be more fun than that party” I suggested.

“That sounds like a great idea. I would love to come over” she said, smiling. “How about we consider it a trial run for a date. Like a pre-date. If it goes well, maybe we could go out to dinner sometime” I said, nervously.

Jasmine’s eyes lit up and she had the biggest smile on her face. “That sounds like a wonderful idea” she said. Then she grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it.

“I’ll see you tonight Jas” I told her. “I’ll see you tonight, latte voodoo witch” she said, giggling.

Late Night Celebrations

Pairing: Jasmine x Reader

Request: “hi if your requests are still open i was wondering if you could possibly write a fluffy jasmine cephas jones x reader fic. maybe it’s them celebrating her emmy win just fluff cause i’m so proud of her for winning an emmy. she deserved it 🤍 thank you” @disneykid125

“So you aren’t even a little curious?” I asked Jasmine, my girlfriend of three years. “Come on Y/N, let’s me real. There’s no way I’m going to win an Emmy. It was super cool to be nominated, but I’m not gonna win” she told me.

“Well I disagree, I think you’re the most talented person I know. As far as I’m concerned, you could win all the Emmys” I told her, kissing her cheek. “You’re my girlfriend, you have to be supportive, it’s like your job” she said, giggling.

“I mean it though, you are crazy, ridiculously talented Jasmine. You don’t even want to turn the Emmys on, near the time they’re announcing your award?” I asked, double-checking.

“It’s a waste of time, we’ll get our hopes up and then be disappointed. Or, we could just watch the Wizard of Oz, like we planned” she said, persuasively. “Fine, we won’t watch the Emmys. But, when you win I get to say I told you so” I bargained. “Okay deal, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up” she said, as she grabbed the tv remote.

She put on the Wizard of Oz movie. I cuddled up into her side and we started to watch the movie. I felt Jasmine start stroking my hair as the movie went on.

Then we were about 45 minutes in and Jasmine’s phone started to ring. She paused it and groaned. “Hang on, it’s my dad” she said, picking up the phone.

“Hey dad, what’s up?” She asked him. I heard him start to say something, I couldn’t tell what it was though. I saw Jasmine’s eyes light up. I had known Jasmine for so long, I could tell that that face meant she was shocked about something really exciting.

“Wait really? Please tell me you aren’t kidding” she said, sounding giddy. “What is it?” I said poking her side, like a toddler.

She pushed my hand away and shushed me. “I can’t believe this, this is amazing. Thank you so much for telling me! I’ll call you tomorrow and we can talk more” she said, excitedly and then hung up the phone.

“Well?” I asked her, impatiently. “Well my dad and I may or may not be the first father-daughter duo to win Emmys in the same year” Jasmine said, excitedly.

“Shut up! You won? I can’t believe this, this is so amazing. I knew that you could do this baby” I said, jumping up off the couch and pulled her into a hug. I kept kissing her temple.

We both started jumping around. “I can’t believe this, this is cloud nine” Jasmine said, as I spun her in a circle. “I am so proud of you” I said, smiling. “I can’t believe that I actually won, I am an Emmy winner. That still doesn’t feel real” she said, with the biggest smile on her face.

“We have to celebrate. Let’s eat some ice cream and have a dance party” I said, still excited. “Deal. I love you” she said, leaning in and pecking my lips. “My baby’s an Emmy winner” I said, as I practically skipped to the kitchen.

I started scooping some ice cream into bowls, then Jasmine walked in the kitchen behind me. “So how’s it feel to be an Emmy winner?” I asked her. “Well it’s been about five minutes and you’re already pampering me and making me ice cream. So I'd say it’s going pretty good so far” she said, smiling.

“Oh shush, I always pamper you. Now, can you grab the whipped cream please?” I asked her. “Yep” she said, as she grabbed it from the fridge. She held it out and I went to grab it and she pulled it away from my hand. “What the heck love?” I asked, confused. Then, she quickly took the lid off and sprayed some on my nose.

She started giggling to herself. “Oh you think this is funny?” I asked her, as I wiped the whipped cream off of my face. “Yeah, it’s pretty funny” she said, still giggling.

I took the whipped cream out of her hand and sprayed some on her nose.

“Is that anyway to treat an Emmy winner?” She asked, teasing me. “You win one Emmy and the fame goes right to your head” I pretended to scoff. Jasmine laughed and grabbed a napkin to wipe it off of her nose.

“You love me and you know it” Jasmine said, giggling. “Yeah, well you’ve got that right” I said, in awe of Jasmine. “One ice cream for the Emmy winner” I said, handing Jasmine a bowl.

“Thank you love, now I believe I was promised a dance party” she said, smiling. We walked back into the living room and I turned on our dance playlist.

While Jasmine wasn’t watching, I took a quick photo of her dancing. She had the biggest smile on her face, and she just looked so happy and she deserved it.

Then we both heard her phone start to ring. She grabbed it out of her pocket and frowned when she saw it. “It’s Pippa, I have to answer it. I promise it’s back to the dance party as soon as I’m done” she told me.

“Answer it, it’s fine” I assured her. I finished my ice cream and put both our bowls in the sink. I came back in the room and she was hanging up the phone. Before I could turn the music back on, her phone started to ring again.

Jasmine had a look of dread on her face. “Go go, I promise it’s okay. You won an Emmy! That’s a big deal, and all our friends want to congratulate you. Enjoy it!” I told her. “Okay fine, I’ll make it up to you though” she replied.

I pulled out my phone and posted the picture I had taken of Jasmine, with the caption: To the recent winner of an Emmy award, I am so happy for you love! You deserve this award so much more than you know, and I am so proud of you! This is an amazing accomplishment, and I know this isn’t the last the world will see of Jasmine Cephas-Jones. This smile that’s been on your face all night is priceless. I love you so much Jas
