Jason Hamel: That's me in the hair. We're in Robin Horry's living room after our first Mahre Bukham gig at The Woodstock. You can match the shirts and hair dos. We took off the spandex after the show.

Jason Hamel: Horry and Tim Timothy Marse. We are all thanked in the liner notes on Grace. We are in Robin’s parents living room. Tim was our drummer.

A couple of dozen friends and family showed up to hear Mahre Bukham play an opening set for the other acts. Although onstage just shy of an hour, they made the most of their time. The set included a few of their own songs... but it was on the covers where they - and Jeff - shone. With the spotlight making his shag haircut seem blonder than usual, Jeff offered up note-perfect renditions of the Police's "Roxanne" and Rush's "Spirit of Radio" and jumped around making goofy faces and playing air guitar during a version of Hendrix's "Fire". "His stage presence at that first show was amazing", recalls Horry. "All the photos our relatives took from that concert, we looked like a bunch of dopes, and Jeff looked like he was straight out of a stinking rock and roll teen magazine. He was so photogenic we wanted to kill him". They didn't make a dime from the gig, but no one cared much; they had their first taste of rock stardom.
